Bobby probably will have more presence in the studio, continue doing the same shit on tour, as patched every time they touch "Have a Nice Day", when Phil does the riff, Bobby the guitar solo, and then Phil returns with the riff ... is ****ing pathetic.

Richie has an iconic presence in the stage, and I love his playing.
I was at that show in Buffalo. Great f'n night! And it's not Phil's fault Jon delegated Bobby to play the solo.

...well, if you can, then answer the question in the title.

Richie leaving - was it the right thing to do? For himself? Maybe even for the future of Bon Jovi?

My answer is simple and straight forward. Hell yes!
These clips that are coming out now are the most exciting thing to come out from the BJ camp since they started playing Dry County regularly again. There's so much energy in there. And simply the fact that Richie is jamming with other class musicians...like Alice Cooper or Stevie Wonder, that's exactly what he needed. Also - it's quite clear that he needed some time to find some passion for music again. Do some horrendous fashion line with some stupid blonde. But who cares, if the result is a Richie Sambora fully switched on wanting to play better than he's done in years - than YES! It was the right decision.

This topic may be premature. But even if Richie returns to Bon Jovi - this will have a positive influence on the band. No doubt about it. There's no way things are going to be the same. And as Jon said: 'God forbid it was the Edge'...well, maybe Richie brings back some Edge from playing with these guys alone. If not and he focusses just on a solo career I'll still be happy. Jon's voice has become insufferable for me. I simply can't listen to him anymore and just having Richie play the guitar parts wouldn't do it.

The ideal outcome is the two of them get back together in a couple of years when Jon has worked on his voice and Richie has fought of his demons and they give us a couple of kick ass records and tours. Yes. That would be the dream outcome. And the fact that Richie left the way he did makes this a lot more plausible than had he stayed.

Right - lots of stuff to read. But the conclusion is - I am super happy this whole fiasco has happened! Lost the money I paid for one ticket - but hell, well worth it in the longer run.
So your excited about Richie playing Bon Jovi covers with a chick? I seriously dont get the "excitement".

But thats just me.

You've got to admit that any change is a plus and is much better than a rest...compared to the last 8-10 years of mundane, that is. Yes, I do like quite a lot of the music has come out of the Jovi camp, but the point is that his performances (as with Mr.Jovi's too) have been very samey, static, stagnant etc etc. Him doing something else with other people has seemed to light the fire again. For me that is also exciting stuff.

I agree that if he ever returns to (Jon) Bon Jovi, it will be a different experience.
Ps. Orianthi is a great guitarist and imho not just some 'chick'.

IF this is the reason, it's too bad all this wasn't said last April and that he had given Jon and the band more than a few hours notice that he wasn't going to show up. I think most fans would have understood and been somewhat forgiving rather than pissed at him because of the way things actually played out. But instead we get this "nice version" NOW right before he's promoting his solo shows (instead of last spring when he could have put a stop to all the rumors) so sorry Richie, some of us are left to wonder how much of it is actually the truth.

I think it 's just plain ridiculous now how people are still whining about this. He expained it and apologized. What more can be said? It's all in the past now. Over and done.

Because he's changing his story to fit what he's selling. Didn't he say he was burnt out as one of the reasons he left? He needs back on fans good side to accomplish anything.

And this isn't whining, I'm discussing.

Beating a dead horse.
Those who will continue to follow his career because of the music will, others won't.

Yes, he did say he was burnt out as one of the reasons he left the tour and now he's changing his story. It's like you said, he's changing his story to fit what he's selling. As House always said, "Everybody lies."

So he's not burnt out but then goes on again about 30 yrs and 14 cycles? Why didn't he just say "I am over Bon Jovi, I have no qualms about f'ing over those fans, but please, please, please come support whatever I do on my own" because that's all this is. Him realizing that he may have bitten the hand that feeds him.
