Maybe just for the simple joy of the music and the jamming with other talented musicians? It's what real musicians should do, not jamming with fabric. Of course neither of them needs each other there to perform the song on guitar as they are both extremely talented, but who cares? It's fun, with a little different vibe.

I'm sure Richie would have played the triangle onstage with Stevie Wonder if he had asked, just for the love of music and the experience.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

I see your point, maybe it's just me, but I rather see Richie take all the solos and sing all the parts but again, it's just me. Didn't find her adding much to the sound. She's a great guitar player but Richie is a better solo guitarist in my book.

But like Seb said, maybe I need to check her out better. I've never heard or seen her before. Maybe her "stage presence" is about looking down on her guitar, who knows. And bringing up Bobby as an example in this case makes no sense. There are thousands of great rhythm players with great voices.

He needs to get out of his comfort zone for this, which makes him a better guitarist. The same happened when he was jamming a few years ago with 2 very good acoustic guitar players. He suddenly showed he does remember how to play, he just doesn't do it often enough which makes him rusty.

I would actually agree with this. Richie is at his best once he is forced to leave his comfort zone and when he is pissed off. This happened during the third Madison Square Garden show in 2011 as well where the PA blew out and he (as well as the rest of the band) were on fire for the remainder of that show.

Half the guys on this forum go 'I'm in love with this woman' and you think she has no stage presence. *shaking head*

Orianthi came to popular light after being Michael Jackson's guitarrist on the This Is It Tour. She's appeared even on the movie from the rehearsals.

The frist video leaked after MJ's death on CNN features both on They Don't Care About Us.

She still has a picture of him on her Twitter profile.

Jolo.

Totally off topic but 5.16 where Jon sings "hold me in your arms" with rasp. Abit more of that is all it would take to silence a few people on here.

On topic - nice to see him bring out Seven Years. Was gutted he didn't play that when I saw him.

Totally agree with the comfort zone comments. On the occasions he does turn it on he's still a quality player and I think being apart from the band is only a good thing for him at this point. He needs to find the enthusiasm again to play like this with Bon Jovi.

At 2:53 where he sings "Get down on your knees and pray" leading right into the solo is exactly what we need to see. Watching that reminded me why I love this band after a good few months of not caring.

Back on topic I think it's great to see Richie with Orianthi. I thought they sounded great together, although she did look a little lost at times. Not taking anything away from her, she's great, her solo stuff especially is excellent, "Drive Away" and "How Do You Sleep?" being two particularly good, bluesy examples. Great guitar work and catchy songs.

agree with most of the comments, richie is trully gifted, but he made many wrong choices the last decade...he is rusty but obviously still got it...who could forgot his anyother day solo in o2???http://youtu.be/h06rP21zNd8
(some tasteful guitar work with passwion and jons priceless reaction...)
i hope richie makes the right decisions, work with other guitarists who could challenge him in a good way and fall in love with music once again
