Great to hear that! Richie has talked about planning to do solo gigs in Australia in one of the LAX airport interviews. So I'm wondering if those are AUS dates...it makes sense to me as Orianthi is Australian and can help draw a bigger audience.

I did not know that version of Lean On Me, what a good song and what a good version.
I already thought I recalled Orianthi from something. After googling I found out I saw her in 'This Is It' where she was Michael Jackson's guitarist.

I salute you,
TS

And the other half is confusing stage presence, physical attractiveness, and musicianship, LOL!

Richie was performing with a guest guitarist, so of course he shared the leads. And having considerably less experience, of course Orianthi behaved as a proper guest and didn't even try to upstage him. But having said that, she did seem to be burying her face beneath her hat and hair. And I think I know why.

I've checked out her other stuff on Youtube, and it vacillates between sex-sells pop tarting and bidding to be THE breakthrough rock guitar goddess, in which case hiding her face becomes a tactic ("Don't look at me--LISTEN to me!"). Well, Orianthi should not count on getting too far by trying to be mistaken for Avril Lavigne one day and for Steve Vai the next, especially now that she's pushing thirty. Pick a side and commit to it, dear -- or you'll end up depending on handouts from the Richie Samboras and Alice Coopers permanently.

Salaam Aleikum,

The This Is It movie is where I first heard of her. She's fantastic.

Richie sounds great in those videos from the other night. I've missed him saying "Let's ride!" before the Wanted solo.

I've checked out her other stuff on Youtube, and it vacillates between sex-sells pop tarting and bidding to be the first "serious" lady rock guitarist (in which case hiding her face become a tactic: "Don't look at me--LISTEN to me!"). Well, you can't be trying to fit in with Lady Gaga one day and Steve Vai the next, especially now that you're nearly thirty. And now,(there is another thread but fits your remark) - she seems to be taking him to the Shockwave Metal Fest in Oz.Fashionista to metal?? He's always thought with the wrong head when it comes to the young blonds. She's a good guitarist and seemed to have a stable career without his coat tails so that is a plus. Time will tell.
He's also doing Sundance in Utah on the 20th of Jan. If she shows there too, I may start to wonder if he has another hanger on though. They sound good together but need to plan/announce gigs not just show up when only one has been promoted, seems .......????
As to her floating styles - she seems to me more of a session guitarist, good but no permanent home - so probably just paying the bills.

I thought you only posted in that other thread. Can't you stick to that? So many annoying people on this message board since this fiasco started....

think people are going a bit OTT with the Richie chat...I love the guy...but he butchered Stranger, his playing is sloppy...vocals weren't overly hot but i guess he's not been getting the chance to build up strength the way you do when you're gigging four nights a week.

Don't like them trading licks either, playing over the top of one another. It's very clear they've not rehearsed very much together. Doesn't seem to be any real chemistry...except in Richie's pants perhaps!

Richie keeps playing with passion, despite the errors. He still sounds more exciting for me, that see a Bon Jovi concert without committing technical errors. Is the reason why Bobby and Phil sucks.

Yeah, Orianthi has zero stage presence. She looks exactly like the session guitarist she is, not a rock star by any means. She can play, no doubt, but she needs to learn to perform.

And Richie is playing sloppy. He even messes up the Wanted guitar lick many times, and he's been playing that for decades. In Stranger he can't remember the chords and plays many of the licks in the wrong key. And the solo is horrible, he plays in the wrong key, but the band doesn't know how it goes either.

I like the way they do different versions of the classic songs, esp. Prayer. Then again, it wasn't possible to have the talk box and have Richie sing at the same time.

But yeah, looks and sounds unrehearsed, just jamming. The sound isn't really good either. Just your average bar band jamming. And I still like it a lot more than what Bon Jovi does nowadays.

You do know how to block posts you don't want to read, right? But we agree on one thing, it's a fiasco.
