There are photos of him on Twitter(I think) where he is at a restaurant in London with the brace over his jeans, surely he wouldnt wear it like this if he was over exaggerating?

That sounds more likely. I would not read into it any conspiracy theory. Misdiagniosis is, in my opinion, a more reliable explanation.

BTW I found an audio interview with Jon where he is telling the interviewer that he tore his meniscus http://extratv.warnerbros.com/2011/0...#ixzz1QgbDcoGX

he does not mention MCL. I know that with torn meniscus people can walk and bend their knee - the problem is that the knee tends to block and gives pain.

With Jon, experience has lead me to believe that what Jon says is rarely true, and often is a cover up for something else. Rare songs, album releases, setlists, singles, intentions of where to play, all stuff he lies about so why wouldn't he lie about this? It's not like this man is known for telling the truth, right?

If it is his meniscus that'll explain things. Still, the press release talked about the MCL, so someone from the Bon Jovi camp ****ed up once again.

Salaam Aleikum,

It may be MCL strain of lower grade 1 (if it were higher grade it would make him really immobile ) plus meniscus tear (which requires surgery). These injuries often come together.

But whatever it is, it is just Jon's body and he does not need to tell the entire world what the diagnosis was. I would not try to investigate into it too much. The facts are that he had an injury, he is going tro have a surgery and that the shows are not cancelled. This is all the fans need to know. Isn't that right?

He *said* it was a precaution until the surgery, no more no less.

My husband had this type of surgery almost 5 years ago. The surgery was on a Friday morning and he was raking leaves in the yard over that weekend. So it's no surprise that Jon could so well with 8 days off. He is in very good shape to begin with.

As to what the injury really is - one thing my husband's doctor told him was that different people tolerate pain vastly differently. So Jon may well have the injury he says he has but his leg muscles may be in good enough shape to support the knee enough so that he isn't in dire pain.

Or as Seb said he could be exaggerating. Maybe a little bit of both?

I know little about his type of injury, but When Jon is on stage the amount of adrenalin that is kicking in would block pain to a large degree so that he could complete a 3 hour show. (and at HRC he did look in pain at times). Just seen Boris Becker being interviewed for Wimbledon and talking about Andy Murray's ankle injury he was saying he has played with injuries and you just go out and play, he did it in apparently '76 when of he won Wimbledon without losing a set. Jon though similarly to a sportsman would be unwise not take enough time to recover between shows. And yes, knowing Jon I'm sure he milks it a bit for effect when on stage!

Maybe everyone has seen this but here's a picture of Jon's leg from David Bergman's official tour site.

I had this surgery in 04 & 05

If jon recovered in 8 days then thats good - i was on crutches for a total of 5months.

My knee locked while playing football (soccer to the US lot) and my cartlidge had torn one side and snapped the other. So they shaved the tear out and pinned the snapped one back. While in there they noticed something else wrong so I needed a second op.

my ligaments behind the knee were dead. The 2nd op required me to have hamstring removed and bolted to back of the knee.

Im not allowed to do any sport ever again as if it goes I will require a artificial knee.

This week funnily enough Ive had a severe pain in it so have gone back to the surgeon who did the ops 5 years ago. Ive had MRI scan and xrays and the the results early next week.

really hope I dont need another op!
