While we are on the subject, I like Bruce's website better and he makes much better use of Twitter and the like. I guess I understand Jon's setlists (whether I agree or not/like or not); however, he needs to up his game on the social media fronts and get in touch and keep in touch with his fan base. There is no excuse for the staleness and lack of activity. He did minimal during the last tour--also not done well--but does even less now.

Why do people keep comparing Bon Jovi and Springsteen? About the on,y thing they have in common is where they're from.

I love Bruce Springsteen but the amount of coverage he gets here is silly.

People, for the last time. Bon Jovi can not improvise their set because apart from playing songs, they also have a big visual production. I know some of you don't care about that at all, but 70 percent of the show has strong visuals. These are programmed and thus a good part of the setlist is fixed.

You can easily see when BJ pull out a rare song or audible, most of the time these songs are not having any strong visuals.

So Bon Jovi choses to bring a big show with a few spots for mixing up their basic setlist.

Apart from springsteen (who i love) not any other band has more variety in their set than Bon Jovi. Muse, AC/DC, U2, ... all have more static setlists than Jovi.

Springsteen rehearses about 100 songs at the start of the tour and indeed choses out of those on the spot. Bon Jovi rehearsed probably much less songs. Guess this time they also have to take into account that Phil X can learn new songs fast, but there is a limit to that.

Cheers,

Its because jon wants to be springsteen and just as well respected. Springsteen gives incredible value at ever show. Sadly it is always hit and miss with bon jovi. Springsteen gets the critical acclaim that jon will never get. Comparison between the two is fine as they both kick out cds for fun and tour repeatedly but the difference is there to see...

Cheers,
Cool story, but not true. Yes, a song with visuals is programmed, but they're programmed per song, not per show. If Jon wants to cram in another song in between two songs with their own video's, he can do this. It's completely possible. The only thing not possible with visuals is to suddenly extend a certain song by a minute, hence new songs always being played exactly the same way, in exactly the same tempo. Further on, songs with their own videos can be dropped as well. It's not as if the rest of the show is ****ed when Jon decides to skip on Because We Can.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I don't care about the setlists that much, but the whole argument about them not being able to play rarities because of the screen visuals is a load of crap. For these visual professionals working on the tour, it takes minimal effort to have some basic flashing lights and just the video of the band on the screen. They can make do well enough on a song with no insane visuals. Besides, each song has its own videos anyway. It's not one big video for the length of the show. They can change whatever the hell they want.

EDIT: I guess Seb beat me to the punch.

But if we all know better (that Springsteen gives more than Jon and that's how it always has been and always will be), why does it get brought up at least 37 times a week?
