Yeah, that's why that show in Puerto Rico went on anyway. Because entering rehab doesn't mean that you're seriously ill, right?

90% of casual fans go to see Jon, if he wasn't there then it'd be like going to see Robbie Williams and his guitarist singing cos Robbie was sick.

Sad but true

Unlike Tico's wrist, they had advance warning to make arrangements when Richie entered rehab. If Richie could get out of rehab to play on the Today show, why couldn't he get out to play in Puerto Rico? Odd little rehab system he had there.

Becky, that's wrong and unfair. Richie went through 5 days of detox at that point, it was after that he began the rehab treatment. The PR show fell during the 5 days of detox when he was hospitalised, and he had finished that by the time he did the Today show. The rehab he went through appears to have been quite flexible, but the 5 days in hospital definitely weren't and were necessary at the time obviously.

Plus I don't think there was a lot of time to organise things. Bobby didnt exactly do a stellar job even from an amateur stance.

Furthermore, why bring down what was a fun thread. In the event Jon falls ill I think the only person who could step in the breach would be Richie, followed by David. I would offer up other vocalists, and indeed Freddie Mercury came to mind first off, but honestly I felt Freddie's talent wouldnt be utilised properly singing Jon's limited range and he would be totally wasted. So I was kind of thinking maybe God forbid Robbie Williams? (even though I hate him) or possibly Daughtry.

on this occassion if the QB doesnt play then there is no concert !

A Bruce or Stones show etc wouldnt go ahead without the lead singer as they have specific vocal tones that no one can create, so no show

In the interest of returning to the fun of this thread, lets assume that aliens have landed and immediately vaporized Jon for being too talented.
Then they proclaimed they would destroy earth unless someone else could do a credible job singing a live concert with the remaining members of Bon Jovi. Someone must step forward to save us all, who could it be?

I nominate Jeff Scott Soto (journey recent version) I heard him sing Faithfully into Purple Rain.

or

Aaron Lewis (staind), In one show I heard Lewis do Alice in Chains, 4 non-blonds, neil diamond, kermit the frog, lynrd skynrd, don mcclain, night ranger, janis joplin, skid row, great white, the eagles, neil young, jesus jones, george michael, van morrison, pink floyd, pearl jam, and guns and roses and the crowd loved every minute of it.

both are vocal chameleons with great and versatile voices, and the fate of the world depends on it

Joe Lynn Turner!

He'd mesh well with the guys, and his voice is effing awesome.

Oh, sorry... forgot it's only wrong and unfair on this board to say anything remotely hurtful about Richie (even if it is true). I wasn't trying to bring down the thread. Seb is the one who brought up Richie's rehab, lest ye forget. I specifically *avoided* mentioning Richie's rehab and only commented on Tico's wrist until asked about that situation.

My point remains that it doesn't matter who's in the audience, Jon will go on sick or the show won't go on.

If the alien thing happens, bring in Chris Daughtry. He doesn't sound like Jon, but he's one of the few people I've heard do an excellent cover of a Bon Jovi song that kept the feel of the original.
