Default Jon was staying directly across the hall from me

No shit.

I got back from Wednesday's show (Crowne Plaza) and there's a guy sitting in a chair with a security shirt on. I couldn't get much out of him, but he kept smiling sayhing "Sorry bro." Anyways, come back the next night after the show, same guy in the chair. After talking for about 15 minutes I ask if I can sit in the hallway. He says "I can't stop you." About 30 minutes later, his 2 way goes off: "Mercedes has just dropped Jon off. He's on his way up." The guy takes off for about 5 minutes, and I'm shitting a brick as I've never met the man before and I'm so excited. He comes back and says "Sorry bro - He's on a different floor tonight."

He wouldn't tell me where he was obviously, but he did say he was in the room directly across the hall from me on Wednesday. I'll never get over this for my entire life. 26 years of being a fan. I didn't want to stalk him outside his home, bother him at a restaurant, or beg for pictures and autographs. I just wanted to shake his hand, thank him for the tough times his music has gotten me through, and let him know how much of a fan I am. To say I'm bummed is an understatement.

Damn!

Question though - are you glad you knew he was staying across the hall from you or would you rather have not known?

On one hand, it's an interesting story to tell. On the other, it makes me very sad. I was within inches of meeting my idol, and it didn't happen.

There is also logic to doing this ,he is touring and if he actually stayed at home it might ##ck with his head...He's in tour mode so the ritual is hotel room.

Mate I imagine that if you had attempted to say hi or something he wouldn't have been best impressed seeing as it was post show so quite late? I hear there's nothing worse in meeting your hero who then turns out to be a twat!

Imagine if someone met him saying "Hey Jon, I've spent more money on Bon Jovi than my wife and kids, can you sign me this copy of a CD?" Would he have the guts to act like a jerk??

Hey man - i think thats a really nice sentiment and i hope you can get to say it to him one day - from my interactions with him he would really appreciate that...its a great story - how wild...

Neh, about a 3 star. Clean, decent service, nicer than average, but nothing out of the ordinary. Funny thing is, it was dumb luck we got that hotel. I just put a request in on Hot Wire for any 3 star, and that's what came up.
