Right. Cramp is not a mechanical injury. It wears off and definitely, you can move normally after sufficient, relatively short amount of rest (i.e. a few hours or so).

however, as to this "clear indication" - I think it would not work with such people as performers and sportsmen. They often get more severe injuries which need a couple of days or weeks rest. But they are given painkillers, steroids etc so as to alleviate symptoms kill the pain and make them able to walk and run.
I saw bootlegs where Jon was injured (eg San Jose 2001) or very sick with high fever (eg Padova 2001) and then bootlegs which were recorded 1-2 days later where he was jumping and running as if he had never been injured/sick. And it is absolutely logical that you cannot heal within 24 or 48 hours to come back to such form. It means that probably he was given some medication that kills the symptoms and pain so as he was not forced to cancel the show.

so, I think that when we see him moving on stage energetically tomorrow, it would hopefully mean that it was just a cramp and he is now fine. But another possibility is this other one, and it would simply mean that he is straining his leg after having supressed the pain with medication, while pain is the natural warning sign indicating "You must rest".

Of course, I am not saying that in such case it would be good if he cancelled the show. I am talking about facts. Sportsmen do the same thing because even if injured, in some cases they MUST perform. Just the requirement of their job.

Yeah. He is a real pro, no doubt. And I admire him for that. I don´t if they´ve ever cancelled a show.
Let´s hope it really is just a subtle calf muscle problem and not a severed / broken achilles tendon. That would be a bigger problem.

right, Sammi, I am with you. As an amateur but very dedicated sportsman I know how bad it is when you neglect severe injuries and keep going in spite of them. So we will both cross fingers that it is just a small thing!

They canceled one or two in Australia in 1994 (or 95) due to Tico spraining his wrist.

The Facebook page says Jon sustained a torn calf muscle, which sounds pretty serious, from what I have read about it.

The best thing he could do is rest it, he'll make it worse if he keeps using his bad leg.

I tore my calf around Memorial Day and I'm still going to physical therapy. It CAN be a serious injury, IF he does not rest it. The injury takes 6-8 weeks to heal. Hurts like hell when it happens. He will be in a lot of pain for a few weeks, he will also be resting it when he is not doing a show. He can take pain pills, but they can make it worse. If he takes pain pills and tears it more then he could need surgery. I am glad to hear he is using crutches, that means he is resting it. It's a frustrating injury because it screws up both legs. When he does walk it is so slow that the muscles in his other leg will weaken.

I was at the NJ show and thought he tore it by his reaction. He looked in pain , but also suprised. Like, why the hell does my calf hurt so much?
He's in a lot of pain right now!

Near the end of Bon Jovi's two-and-a-half hour show at New Meadowlands Stadium on Friday night, Jon Bon Jovi sustained a torn calf muscle. Jon made light of the injury and went on to close the show with their anthemic hit, 'Living On a Prayer.' The band ended the night together, thanking the capacity home-town crowd, and assisting Jon off the stage. The injury will not prevent Bon Jovi from playing any of their upcoming stadium dates this summer.

This was the band's fourth concert at New Meadowlands Stadium. The series started in May, with the first concert ever at the new East Rutherford stadium.
I just hope he doesn't aggravate it by continuing to do shows.
