The man is 46 years old. His life is fuller now with more in it than just the music. He is never going to concentrate on just the music like he did all those years ago.

We will not hear him scream like a teenager even if he could do it because that would now be crazy coming from a 46 year old. I for one am just glad they are still able to perform and release new music. There are plenty of bands who have thrown the towel in or carried on and released trash after trash.

The music they have released will never go away and if your favourite is New Jersey for example then you can listen to Jon screaming 'I'll be there for you' every night for the rest of your life. I too wish he could sing songs like 'Always' or 'Bed of Roses' but he just can't and if he tried and made a complete hash of it then he would look stupid.

Listen to Vince Neil if you want to hear an aging rock god with a really poor voice. I know which I would rather listen to.

Dio, Klaus Meine, Steven Tyler, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Ian Gillan...all older, all are still pulling awesome screams (even though quality is decreasing in these cases as well)...how is it crazy coming from 50-60 year old people? a scream is a scream, it's part of the song so if he could do it, he should do it!

I am so so happy Bon Jovi doesn't fall into that second category.

Have any of them toured to the extent that Bon Jovi has? That should be taken into consideration-not just age.

*cough* Refer to my sig.

I think there are other factors involved in the deterioration of his voice but that would be a great start.

And again, just to be clear, Jon has been smoking since he was a teenager. He smoked big time on the NJ tour, cut back some during the early nineties but started to smoke more again during the TD era. He seems to go in waves with the smoking. But, no matter what he says in interviews, lol, he has always smoked, it's just how much.

Like I said I think there are a few factors but regardless of how long he's been doing it, there's no way all that smoking can be good for anyone, let alone a singer.

Besides, being around smoke, even for fairly short periods has always made me want to hurl.

I read this before in an interview with Mick Jagger ...

(He was asked when we will he hang the mic up and call it a day and Whose judgement does he trust enough to tell him this)

Your own judgement. The trouble is, when you get older or you smoke a lot, your voice changes. As a singer, you know you can't go to certain notes. But that is not everything, it's the expression you put into it.

To add to this rather unhelpful comment ... Iron Maiden and Aerosmith have probably toured roughly as much as Bon Jovi, and both of them have some years on Bon Jovi yet. Mind you, Bruce and Steve are probably just freaks of nature. Actually, Bruce Dickinson doesn't scream much, he just sings some very high sustained notes, but he sings them properly. Steve ****ed up his throat obviously, but somehow still manages to sound amazing since his surgery
