Jon's voice- how can he help it???

Absolutely Becky! I don't think Jon could have sang "My Funny Valentine" half as good back in the 80's or even 90's.

Actually, they did that song at a show in the 80's, but it's never surfaced as a bootleg (to my knowledge). However, Jon talks about performing it on a radio interview I have from 1988.

why pass judgement on something you were never at and have never heard? - There is nothing wrong with that song. It's a classic and Jon sang it very well at the fan club trip soundcheck back in Feb. and at the show that night!
- I was just using that song as an example as to how his voice is sounding these days, based on my personal experiences. Jon singing that song certainly made the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention!

Here's some food for thought.

How can people judge/comment on Jon's voice from listening to a bunch of poor quality bootleg tapes or Mp3's?!

at least my comments are based on seeing and hearing the man actually sing at concerts.

the last decent quality concert i've seen/heard is SBE-sounded fine to me.

i also have bootlegs from '88 and his voice back then was croaky to say the least.

Like Donna, I actually saw the band live in the 80's, all through the 90's, and into this century. Top that off with a bootleg collection that would rival anyone's. I'm just as entitled to express my opinion as you or anyone else.
