Default July 24th, 2013 East Rutherford, NJ Concert Rescheduled

I received this e-mail today:

Attention ticket holder!

Message sent on behalf of the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ:

We just learned that your upcoming event has been rescheduled:

Bon Jovi
MetLife Stadium
Wednesday, July 24th at 7:30PM New date: Saturday, July 27th at 7:30PM!

Dear Valued Fan,

Due to scheduling considerations, Bon Jovi’s MetLife Stadium show has been moved from Wednesday, July 24th to Saturday, July 27th. Legendary rockers and special guest The J. Geils Band will open for Bon Jovi when the New Jersey icons return to their home turf on Saturday, July 27th.

It seems to be legitimate, and the date has been changed on Ticketmaster, but unsurprisingly, there has been no official announcement from Bon Jovi yet. I doubt they will ever announce the "real" reason for the change, but I think some possibilities are that ticket sales were low, and they thought that rescheduling it to a weekend would increase ticket sales, the J. Geils Band was unavailable on the originally-scheduled date, or they have confirmed that Richie is not returning, and Phil was unavailable on the originally-scheduled date.

Seriously??

I've already booked a week off work around the 2 shows, paid for flights, etc and they might be moving the first show to the day I fly back to the UK?? Any news about the 2nd??

Not like I can rearrange anything at this short notice and pretty sure flights are non-refundable!

I best get the option for a refund of my tickets through the Fan Club!!

Aloha !

It's ticket sales. Richie has nothing to do with this, just like the band won't reschedule a show for a support act like J. Geils. It's slow ticket sales.

Which will mean, according to current guidelines, that you'll have to pick up your refund at the stadium on the day of the show. Good luck with that.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

So, what I get out of this is that they were hoping for better sales to add Saturday but then when sales sucked they moved Wednesday to Saturday hoping to at least sell out the one night.

Flights are refundable up to 48 hours before you fly. Well at least they always have been for me and I have cancelled a load of flights in the past due to work etc. There is a charge, I am not going to put a figure on it because I really can't remember, but it is nominal compared to a long distance ticket price.

This tour has been a mess to be fair. When they look back on it they will surely call it the Because We Couldn't Tour.

To conduct these monster tours they do not need the die-hards, they need the casuals and the casuals are not interested in seeing Bon Jovi every two years.

If this is indeed the case, it will create a nightmare for the Runaway Tours fan club trip. That trip includes tickets to both shows and I believe is scheduled for July 23-26.

Well so far I've emailed Sparkart to see what is going on and checked out Ticketmaster. They show the 24th show now as 27th. No change yet for the 25th which I would still be able to attend, all be it what seems to now be called the "Ultimate VIP Party Pack" area even though it was a "Crossroads VIP Package" back in November??

What worries me most is the fact my presale email confirmation for my pit ticket for 24th says that there are no refunds under any circumstances in bold letters! £285 of dream ticket that I have to take the loss on??

And the Because We Can Tour saga continues!

This is weird ans sucks for people who can't make it ... It's random too. It's not like there's a major even happening (say a sport game that was resheduled like the Montreal Canadien games this week (they had to moce a show because of it and it created a shitstorm)) and they have to move the show because of it. Honestly tickets sales shouldn't be a reasons to reschedule a show when you damn well know thousands of people are travelling just for it...

All in all, it kind of fit with my schedule better. I'll be able to go to the Paul McCartney show on july 23th in Quebec and still make it for the Bon Jovi show.

And while this sucks, it also means I might be able to finally find some pit tickets since there's bound to be a number of people looking to sell theirs.

Still. Classic Jovi move.
