That little boy dreamt about the moment of seeing that band one day and hearing that solo live someday. And there I was, almost 20 years later, listening how my guitar hero is playing it in front of my eyes. It was amazing. Of course Richie nailed it. It is only Richie that can do justice to this solo. I can’t find the words to describe the emotions that were in me. This was perfection.

I will admit that when I first read your review, I shed a couple of tears, as one can tell that it it truly written from the heart.
Also, I'm very happy for you that the dream that you had as a little boy came true. Very little can top that.
Having said that, I take exception to the following: "I know that they could get away with the shows without Richie in US, but Richie holds a huge part in fans' hearts."
Unquote.
They did not really "get away" with doing the last leg of the US tour without Richie. There were loads of fans, including myself, and many others on this board that were furious/livid, mostly, because we were not given any other options. These tickets for these shows, for the most part, were purchased months and months ago. Promises were made and promises (by the band) were broken, but apparently that is ok with the CEO.
My husband & I purchased a rather expensive package for our wedding anniversary. HE wanted to do the backstage thing because HE wanted a chance to see Richie's guitars up close, etc. So, for that and for other reasons, we chose this show and this trip as our anniversary gift. BTW, we have never even been out of town for our anniversary and we never had the opportunity for a honeymoon. So, this was a huge deal for us.
When I found out that Richie was going to be in rehab, I was furious (of course, I cared about Richie, that goes without saying) and incredibly frustrated. This meant that my husband would not get to see Richie's guitars, gear, etc. And, of course, he would not get to see Richie, up close.
So ... I did everything but beg the powers that be, to make an exception, (give us options), explained our situation in more detail than I really wanted to, but - nope - seems that "management" would make no exceptions.
There were numerous emails exchanged that, in the end, led to nothing. They should have just stated in the first email, we don't care about your dream, your once in lifetime anniversary trip/celebration, we don't care that you chose to spend it with us, nope, we want you to be miserable, and well... HAND.
We went. We got thru it. It was not horrible. But, it was either go, or waste the tickets, completely. I thought that Phil X did an amazing job, filling in. I still really like the guy. But, that is not who my husband paid to see play, etc.
We both TRIED to make the best of it.
One of the worst parts, before we ever left home, was when we got the signed lithographs, Richie's signature was not on his. Another promise broken.
Something, that most others have gotten, except for the few where their most important and most expensive show, just happened to be in May when Richie - out of the blue - decided that was the month to rehabilitate himself.
IMO, I do not think that anyone can make such a drastic life change in a month, but more power to him, if he is able to sustain it.
Am I bitter?
Yes, and that is why your comments above hurt. We Americans did not - "let them get away with it" - we were trapped into it - no way out. And, that came from management at Backstage.
My own huge trip/dream of a lifetime trashed and no one in the Bon Jovi corporation cared one iota.
Hell, with that kind of money, we could have taken an amazing cruise, or just saved the money, for another time.
And, don't come in here and tell me that we should not have bought that package, it was a dream of my husband's and he was nice enough to purchase it as OUR anniversary gift.
So, what's the chances that my Richie lith will ever get signed?
Slim and NONE.
There is no way to get that week end back.
I will always, always, always, have a special spot in my heart, for this band.
But, they really screwed the US fans on this one. Having said all of this, they did not, in reality, get away with anything.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, frankly, I don't think that anyone could do that.
Just pointing out something that you said that is highly inaccurate and something that I'm sure many American fans would take exception to, that's all.
Your dream came true ~ our's did not.
But, hey, that's life.
