Adam Ant and many more confirmed for Hard Rock Calling

Monday 11 April 2011

Adam Ant, Rumer, Mike + The Mechanics, Barenaked Ladies and many more added to the line up

We are delighted to confirm that Adam Ant & The Good, The Mad And The Lovely Posse, Rumer, Mike + The Mechanics and Barenaked Ladies will play Hard Rock Calling in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday 26th June, along with a host of exciting new additions to an already fantastic lineup. They are set to join Sunday headliner Rod Stewart and queen of rock ‘n’ roll Stevie Nicks.

Adam Ant is one of the most instantly recognisable and iconic artists of the twentieth century. As a solo solo artist, he scored ten UK top ten hits, including three Number One singles. Ant was also a star in America where he not only scored a string of hit singles and albums, but was once voted sexiest man in America by the viewers of MTV. Joined by a new band The Good, The Mad and The Lovely Posse, Adam Ant is confirmed to perform for crowds in Hyde Park as part of his first tour for 15 years.

On playing the Hyde Park event, Adam Ant commented: “It’s been 15 years, I can’t wait to get out on the road again, and to play in Hyde Park is a real honour for me. I have a great band, and I have the songs and I’m ready to Rock n’ Roll”

Also shaping up Sunday 26th June at Hard Rock Calling is critically acclaimed BRIT-nominated singer Rumer, whose Platinum-selling debut album Seasons Of My Soul shot to Number Three in the UK charts. With comparisons to the legendary Karen Carpenter and Carole King, and fans including Elton John, Jools Holland and Burt Bacharach, Rumer’s soulful tones bring a highly anticipated addition to this year’s Hard Rock Calling.

The multi-million selling Lighthouse Family return on fine form to perform for crowds at Hyde Park. The band amassed four top 10 albums generating eight top 20 singles including Ocean Drive, Raincloud, Lifted and High. Fresh from their US tour the fantastic Grammy Award-nominated Barenaked Ladies join the bill, performing their huge hits including the Top Five smash One Week, It’s All Been Done and Call And Answer.

Further additions to Sunday 26th include American Grammy-Award winning rockers Train, who had big hits with the Top Ten smash Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me), as well as Hey, Soul Sister. An all-new Mike + The Mechanics will also take to the stage, featuring a brand new line up of Mike Rutherford, Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar. They’re joined by former Starsailor frontman James Walsh who will perform an acoustic set for crowds.

In an addition to the Saturday 25th June line up, folk-rock singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham is also confirmed, as well as Russian-rockers Everline. Grammy-Award winning rockers Bon Jovi will headline in what promises to be one of the hottest events of the summer.

Aloha !

I think it's safe to assume that Ryan Star and Train will be the support act for the entire European tour. Never heard of Ryan Star but for a support act Train were decent, though I'd rather have seen Barenaked Ladies support Bon Jovi. I think they'll do a club tour through Europe.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

yay, another Ant fan on the board, loved this man for 31 years, not seen him since "wonderful" tour, and judging by the you tube clips the new tour is gonna be amazing. Got my tickets for brum and York. I actually think Adam would blow jovi off the stage if he was on the Saturday night. For a bloke of 56 he would put Jon to shame.

I don't think Train will be the support act for the entire European leg, because they are doing a lot of US State fair dates, with Maroon 5 in June, July and August. Now I know there is some large date gaps, but I personally couldn't see them popping back and forth. (I can be wrong, but some of Bon Jovi's dates are the day before or after one of their shows.)

Quote:
Apr 16 Ford Park Vail, CO
Apr 28,29, 30. May 1, 2 VH1 Best Cruise Ever
May 13 Jackson Convention Complex Jackson, MS
May 15 Smokies Stadium Sevierville
May 15 Star Jam 2011 Knoxville, TN
May 17 Tivoli Theatre Chattanooga, TN
May 21 InfieldFest at Preakness Stakes Baltimore, MD
May 18 Springfield, MO Show Me Music Fest
June 26 London, UK Hard Rock Calling only non US date.
July 23 Paso Robles, CA California Mid-State Fair – Main Grandstand Arena
July 25 Los Angeles, CA Hollywood Bowl
July 30 West Bend, WI Washington County Fair Park
Aug. 6 Pittsburgh, PA PNC Park at North Shore
Aug. 8 Lenox, MA Tanglewood
Aug. 18 Indianapolis, IN Indiana State Fair
Aug. 19 Des Moines, IA Iowa State Fair
Aug. 28 Louisville, KY Kentucky State Fair
(fixed the dates)

Bon Jovi are in Europe all through July. Train are not touring all through July. I really hope Train do open as I do enjoy them. Ryan Star was great live in Vancouver, so that would be cool too.
