NEWS - Bon Jovi Happy To Have Sheryl Crow Opening Stadium Dates
07/17/2003

(7/17/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- When Bon Jovi decided to do some stadium shows this summer, the group began looking for opening acts to help support ticket sales. Sheryl Crow signed on for three of the dates, the first of which is coming up this Saturday (July 19) at Comerica Park in Detroit.

In an interview with LAUNCH, Jon Bon Jovi says having Crow on the bill is a no-brainer. "You know, we've always loved her,” says Bon Jovi. “It was that kind of thing, you know, we just added her to the bill for the stadiums. She was receptive to doing all different kinds of things this summer, so she's playing those stadiums we're doing.”

The Detroit gig won't be Crow's first show with Bon Jovi this year--she was on the bill on July 11 at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin.

Bon Jovi is continuing to promote its 2002 album, Bounce, which has sold more than three million copies worldwide. The group is planning an acoustic album for release in November, and a box set for 2004 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their first album.

Besides the Detroit date, Bon Jovi is playing stadium shows with Crow in Foxboro, Massachusetts on July 22 and Philadelphia on July 26. Jason Mraz and Pete Yorn will open Bon Jovi's August 7 and 8 concerts at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Crow's latest album, 2002's C'mon C'mon, is about to be certified double platinum for sales of two million copies. She's planning a greatest hits album, with at least one new song, for release this fall, and she filmed two recent shows in Dayton, Ohio, for a possible DVD.
