Actually, there are 14 cities on BJ's European schedule which by the way is the same number of cities that U2 is playing on their European leg. U2 is as of now playing seven more shows than BJ as they have multiple nights in a few cities, but it's probable that BJ will add some shows between now and then.

I really don't believe after selling 100,000,000 albums Bon Jovi are that desperate for a few quid so I doubt they are just playing the countries where they can make the most money. Metallica's latest tour in the UK consisted of 2 shows in London, that was it. Now that's lazy greedy touring, they could easily have filled Arena's in other parts of the country. Bon Jovi could have just done 3 nights at Wembley and left if it was purely about greed. After all the years of touring they've given us who can blame them for slowing down a bit in their old age! As for the countries they're not going to maybe the promoters just don't feel they'd sell enough tickets to make it worthwhile. While I don't think it's as calculated as some of you, I don't expect anyone to go out and deliberately lose money on a tour. At the end of the day if you really want to see them then you'll find a way. Jon's got his acting and family to think about, I doubt he's got two years spare for a tour. If they did that long a tour then we'd all be moaning how long they take between albums. I'm still hoping Sambora can squeeze another solo album and tour in somewhere as well. I know we're lucky in the UK and US that they tour extensively but unfortunately the rest of you will just have to travel to see them or actually start buying the newer albums.

The band members seem more rounded as people now. With family and other outlets, they're priorities change. Kids are only young once. Plus, Jon seems to get a lot of enjoyment out of the Philly Soul and wants to be hands on so I think that takes up a lot of time. Plus, he's said that he wanted the tour scheduled around games. The American part of the tour might be the same length with fewer concerts to be able to work around the AFL season.

Bon jovi constatly complaining how boring it is to travel, and have done so for the recent tours. i think this effects the quality of the shows.
they don't like traveling, and that effects their setlist, vocalperformances and so on.

that's my conclusion.

"Touring" does not sepearte rock artists from other artists. Acts in other genres are among some of the biggest tours going.

A band does not have to tour either. It's something that obviously helps with album sales, but it's not necessary. I'm not thrilled with their tourdates either. They haven't played my area in 16 years. But they don't owe us a tour.

yes it does.

Of course other artist tour, but not in the same range as rockbands, and mostly their shows suck.

no they don't owe us anything, but they should keep in mind that if they don't tour, their records will sell shit!

Not that it's all about money, but do they make more money from touring or album sales?

Most acts make more money from touring. And, erik, explain what you mean that other artists don't tour in the same range as rock bands?

How many popbands has done 2500 shows?
How many popband or other artist keeps touring intensivly although the aren't in the spotlight?
Not that many!

rock is touring, its a institution. this is not an opinion, this is a fact.

Iron maiden, Metallica, Jovi, U2, Rolling stones are all top live acts, thats not a coinsident (of course there are other great live artists as well, but still not in the same leauge as rockbands).

(perhaps the phrase "in the same range" is wrong.., hopefully this is a better explanation )
