Legality of Bootlegs

Okay, so I know record companies won't own the mechanical rights to bootlegs, unless they are of a commercially released concert, but do they own the publishing rights to bands' material, even in a live form, and are they fussed about enforcing this right?

Essentially, what I'm asking is are DimeADozen users about to get sued anytime soon? Have any been already? I know the chances are slim even if so, but is it worth sticking to offline trades?

And, whilst I'm thinking about it, what is Bon Jovi's taping/trading policy?

Well I'd presume that people who trade films and commercially available music would be more likely targeted before people who trade live music freely because they love it.

You know, the thing that has reassured me the most is looking at the top 10 sharers list on dime and seeing that no. 1 has uploaded something like 36 TERRABYTES of music!

Its totally bullshit, compare it to the druglaw in Holland, people are allowed to buy it (ie in shops) but the shops arent allow to purcashe it, only to sell it...

the artist / label do still own publishing rights to the song even in live form.

you could be sued for it but it's pretty unlikely.
