Default Live Guitar

Oh my God... my ears have changed. I've got a DVD of a concert recording while I'm flitting around the house doing housework and I've noticed I'm pausing as much to listen because I finding a guitar solo interesting as I am because I want to listen to a certain verse or chorus.

What are your favorite live guitar moments? Which do you think show Richie at his best?

Becky

i think one of my favorite moments is after the second chorus of wanted when richie switches to his electric and appears on the edge of the stage in the spotlight blasting in to the solo. it may not be a complicated one but the setting is awesome!

I think Richie putting all his feelings in the Always solos in Wembley are pretty neat too.

Apart from the obvious solo in Dry County on the KTF Tour, the other solo which has blown me away live had to have been Next 100 Years on the Crush tour - it rocked!

Aloha !

Five Long Years from Eric Clapton live in Hyde Park is one of my favourite guitar solo's. When it comes to Richie it'll be the In & Out Of Love intro he did during the first tours.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

there's a great solo in some band jam from the late 80s but i can't for the life of me think what the song is. it's an elvis cover i think with some other bands (skid row maybe?).

apart from that bad medicine, fallen from graceland and prayer from his 98 tour (osaka is about the best quality and performance-wise) are other favourites.

Giant's 2nd night from 2001. I've paid a lot more attention to guitar in the past few months, well, almost a year, so it makes sense I'd pay more attention to Richie's work when I'm listening to a Bon Jovi CD or video. I really haven't had much time for Bon Jovi videos though. The only reason I had this one on was that I had to copy it and pass it on.

Well the obvious one would be Dry County, pretty much any performance of it, and not so much a solo really as just an extended intro but the intro to Wanted Dead Or Alive with Midnight Rider added too, the Wembley 95 version is one of my favourites.

I haven't heard many versions of it but I really like the Next 100 Years solo too, only really got the version from the Crush DVD I think, and I love pretty much any performance of Just Older, I love that solo.

The recent variation on the Livin' On A Prayer solo sounds pretty good too, played at Borgata and the Pep Rally I think. I guess we'll hear that more often now.

I understand very well what you mean ...now and this for months maybe years you have a guitarist specialist among your fav- a guy named Keith ...it always helps to listen more specificly to the guitar solos then ....and been hooked by a guitarist helps to enjoy Richie's virtuosity with new ears
