That brings back such a mental picture of the blue haze that covered every rock show I attended from the late 60s on. I am so glad that is not the case anymore.

And it wasn't always legal cigs. My friends and I used to say we'd get a contact high just by it swirling around us.

Which in turns brings back the memory of the cloud that settled over the orchestra when Bob Marley played at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York City. For once, I was glad that the only ticket I was able to get was in the upper deck -- you could barely see who was onstage!

Only songs i enjoyed listening to were Diamond ring and Saturday night cause Jon didn't have to struggle with the vocals. Keep the Faith was a total mess. Never heard him singing that song so bad. Even Because we can caused problems for Jon.

Any thoughts?
Well, for once, songs lose energy when being down tuned. Right now, it's just everything one half step tuned down, nothing more. The songs are still in the original key (minus that half step), though some people claim otherwise.

The other thing is that I don't know how deep Jon's voice goes. If he gained in the bottom what he lost in the top and his voice just got darker, then ok. But everything I've heard over the last 20 years wasn't that deep and some times he even struggled with those "deep" notes in the songs when played live and tuned a half step down.

Which leads to a third possibility: change the singing melody. Please. Just. Don't It would just feel wrong all over the place, and I'm not talking about the minor changes he already does here and there or about Saturday Night or Radio...

He should get some rest, get a vocal coach or fire the current one and with a little luck he could be at least as good as in that Cleaveland show I posted next time round, that would be perfectly fine with me.

I wouldn't worry. After 11 months and 103 shows, he is tired and wants to be home with family and enjoy the holidays. He was just recognizing the end of the world tour. It is not the end of him or the band. Besides I don't think they would go out without a final tour.

I agree. And anyone who doesn't think this tour would've been miles better if Richie was there is kidding themselves. Even if for no other reason but to help cover up Jon's weak vocals.

I agree. Changing the melodies would be the worst solution. If Jon's voice is not getting better he surely will start to sing always as in TLFR album. At least partly. Radio and Saturday have no energy after he decided to change the melodies. Also Santa fe sounded crappy in London cause he sang it partly in lower octave. Also i dont understand why he is singing the chorus of Sleep when im dead lower than on the album. He's been doing that for ages though...

But i still think they should tune some songs lower. I think These Days, Prayer, Dry county and Keep the faith would not suffer too much from the process. But with Always, I believe and Hey god he would have a problem cause the verses are already pretty low.

He has problems even with Amen. I dont know it the chorus is autotuned on the record. Surely sounds like it.
