Any thoughts?

Well, for once, songs lose energy when being down tuned. Right now, it's just everything one half step tuned down, nothing more. The songs are still in the original key (minus that half step), though some people claim otherwise.
The other thing is that I don't know how deep Jon's voice goes. If he gained in the bottom what he lost in the top and his voice just got darker, then ok. But everything I've heard over the last 20 years wasn't that deep and some times he even struggled with those "deep" notes in the songs when played live and tuned a half step down.
Which leads to a third possibility: change the singing melody. Please. Just. Don't

It would just feel wrong all over the place, and I'm not talking about the minor changes he already does here and there or about Saturday Night or Radio...
He should get some rest, get a vocal coach or fire the current one and with a little luck he could be at least as good as in that Cleaveland show I posted next time round, that would be perfectly fine with me.
