So far in 2007 they played 10 nights in Newark.

And that is only in my immediate area. So my perception is that their ticket sales have increased even though the album sales have not. I do realize that this is home territory and you would expect them to be more popular here except that for awhile they couldn't even give tickets away here. That was mostly in the nineties but still....
I think i didnt make this clear enough, but i was talking about Europe only as i was referring to the previous posts of Seb and born_to_run discussing wether or not Bon Jovi will still be playing stadiums "over here" (and by that i mean Europe)

Obviously your definition of rock is larger than Seb's, or mine for that matter.

I'd still say BJ, overall, is a rock band but LH, as a whole album, is definitely not a rock record in my book, I think it wasn't even meant to be one.

I couldnt agree more.

Of course. I meant when they and more are put together. Maybe I was a little too restrictive with what I said. I just find it amusing at times when people argue like...

They are hair metal with pop influences...
...no, they have never been hard rock.
Exactly, they have always been arena rock with country influences...
...never have they been country influenced.
Pop-rock metal is their genre...
...mellowed to Adult Contemporary.

I am sure Lost Highway was not considered to be non-rocking by the band. Of course, it is not the ultimate new rock definition and maybe there are other genres that fit better nowadays.
But considering the band and the roots of rock music, Lost Highway for sure is of such.

Whatever category of music Bon Jovi were/are producing, really doesnt matter to me. And I accept (hell, i even think its a good thing) that different people put different albums of a band in different categories and some people simply dont categorise at all, which is fine with me also.
But then why does the same person that doesnt care about categorising, categorise my post as a waste of brain?
Talking about self-contradiction...

First, let me reword what I said a little better: I do categorise it, but I have accepted that people will never agree about a detailed music genre. It is almost like a religious argument when people debate music genres, and there's theists, atheists, fanatics and everything in between as well.

Second, I do not contradict myself, when I state my opinion about debating music genres. It's not like I mustn't say what I think of your post just because I said I don't like detailed music categorising.

The Wildhearts were THE band at the right time - late teens when I was beginning to understand the personal connection music could give you. Just far, far too many perfect songs and far, far too many gigs that took you out of yourself. I've truly lost count. Ginger's 40th birthday show at Higbury Garage though is in my top 3 of all time (with Simon and Garfunkel's Old Friends show and Brooooce's RAH show on the Devil's and Dust tour). Every song was obscure as **** and every song was greeted as tho it were Livin' on a Prayer. Just absolute magic.

As for Valor., no reason at all why any BJ fan shouldn't love the album, a real classic rock beast. Yoni is half absolutely outstanding (Jake, Holiday, Black Widows...), but for me looses focus a little and is perhaps a little too jammy for a BJ audience.

All said, great time for Ginger. Valor, Yoni and the Wildhearts all had a LOT of moments of unworldly songwriting. Just the master. Can't wait for Market Harbour.

I'm also pretty sure Shari Black Velvet (of Black Velvet fanzine) is a huge fan of both bands, but also a name I've not seen around for a long time.

But it's always good to spread the word. Bon Jovi is mainstream rock, diluted for a mass audience, but this is the real thing!

- this just plain has to put a smile on your face.

Man, and so does this . The hair! 1994!

Hell, even this.
This just has to go up, but I guess, only for the brave.
I just never thought to check them out on Youtube before.

Great vid, never seen that before, is that from the Scala? I don't remember SG5 playing many shows at all, and I never got to see them which is a big regret, but I didn't expect them to be so short-lived! I still love The Wildhearts (first saw them totally by accident supporting The Almighty in 1992 who they blew off the stage) and I still think they are fantastic live, but they don't really do it for me on record anymore. I bet we were at a lot of the same shows, I haven't counted but I do know I've seen them more than any other band

I'm hoping there is a little tour for the next solo album!

Sorry for taking the thread off topic!
