I too wanted to hear some songs like Something For The Pain, Bed Of Roses, and Blame It On The Love Of Rock 'N' Roll, but I still think that show will take some beating. What a great effort by the band, they certianly haven't lost it.

Next time Bon Jovi tour hope that you get to see a special show, then you'll understand why quite a few are upset with the UK dates this tour

i agree with that mike but i know where i was stood, many people didn't seem to know ISWID even so to throw in loads of others would probably have caused unrest in the crowd. a couple of songs isnt much to ask for though.ask

Special Show? How do you define a special show. To a lot of people that was a special show. Just because it wasnt your dreamwish list doesnt mean it wasnt special. It was a special show to me. A lot more people went home happy than unhappy id guess .......

It wasn't the set directly that made that not a special show. When Bon Jovi are really on fire they change things around. I'm not saying even this is putting in my fav songs, if the band were in the sort of mood where they were starting to throw in One Wild Night, Bed of Roses, These Days, Dimond Ring, e.t.c it would by no means be my dream set, but the changes would make the concert great. It's the bands attitude, and I'm sorry but Jon at Manchester still falls a lot short of him at his best.

i.e I'd define a special show as the most special I've seen... Maybe it can get better for Bon Jovi than the show I'd say was the best I've seen, but even then that would make Old Trafford even less special! For you it was special, which is why I'm saying if you'd seen the band when they were really hot, you woudln't find Old Trafford so special

Default interests

What interests me here is the aggressive attitude of the people who don't agree with what Mike and myself are saying.

Read back through our messages - there is no aggression, no sarcasm - just die hard BJ fans going against the party line. Aren't we allowed to have our own opinion? It makes me laugh that the moment you put forward a different point of view you get people telling you to basically shut up and F##k off.

We are allowed an opinion - I'm not saying we are right or wrong - just that I feel BJ are coasting. There is no aggression there guys.

I have seen BJ rise from young lads playing simple rock songs and having a whale of a time - through to the tiredness and relentlessness of the Jersey tour onto the something to prove anger of the Faith years and through to the musical experimentation that was These Days. Been with the band all the way, grew up with them from a tender 17 year old to a 32 year old father - this makes me feel able to give an informed opinion.

I don't mind if you feel different because we are all at different stages of our lives and different stages of our fandom!

However - I have seen tours that are more experimental, I've seen songs played that you wouldn't imagine if you've only hopped on in the last few years and I've seen the bon jovi experience gradually shift from a rock show full of integrity and meaning where jon spoke different things to different crowds and messed around with the set to a very party rock type of atmosphere, with inflatibles, fireworks and other peripheral shit.

The best gi I ever saw BJ do was at Sheffield Arena 1993. No stage show, just them, the lights and the music. Jon walk around in circles all night, pontificating to the crowd and YES - they played 'Dry County'!!!

The bon jovi of 2003 cannot, I repeat, cannot, ever touch that of 1993. The last time they played indoors in the uk. if they went back to playing indoors, maybe even acoustic slots, you would see the difference in the performance and the set. I've seen interviews with jon where he says that he believes when you play a field you can only play certain songs - which I think is wrong.
On the intro to 'Mystery Train' from the acoustic show in Japan from janusry 2003 he says that he loves that particular song but can't play it in fields or stadiums. Bollocks! Of course you can - you can play the song with meaning and it will still come across to the audience.

Thats where they have gone wrong. Bring back the indoor shows!

Arenas are generally better in terms of viewing, though a lot of people like the atmosphere of a stadium. I know for a fact that the best venue I've ever been to for a gig was at an actual theatre on the outskirts of Melbourne. This place was made for both acoustics AND viewing, and the atmosphere inside was so great, despite the fact that we were in the very back row, we were still close as.

So yeah, bring back the smaller venues.
