Don't get me wrong, I love the song, one of the best songs of the album, but if you haven't heard the song before the show as a casual it's not a song that will bite its way into your mind. In that sense it would make much more sense to play Born Again Tomorrow. That's the opposite, that song is built around a strong hook in the chorus and a catchy guitar melody.
Yeah, that seems to be the case. Probably why Scars is putting people to sleep which is a crime btw. But they still don't play BAT which would make a lot more sense if he wants to win the audience back after the big "new songs" section. This one really puzzles me too, I see no reason why it hasn't debuted yet, it's not even difficult to sing or specially fast.

Not that I'm complaining, give me LWTG, LOL or even NYD even BAT any day

I'm going to say this in every thread until this leg is over and I hope I'm not proven wrong: I'm psyched that Jon loves THINFS so much and won't give up on the songs regardless of the audience reaction. Big kudos to him. Although it's a case of too little too late tbh, I wish they had kept all the songs from Crush, Bounce and HAND that worked very well live and were played quite frequently (some even in subsequent tours) so now we had some real diversity to spice up the basic hits+new album setlist instead of just having BWC, Follow and Working Man on rotation

My comment was aimed at the average American concertgoer based on what people who where there are saying here, and the reactions I read on social media. I know LWTG is quite loved on this board regardless of nationality

That's why you Americans don't get the *lyrically complex* songs I guess. They are not fun and catchy. I personally feel that a balanced setlist includes the hits, the fun songs (I'm talking about Sleep, Crash and *gasp* WGIGO which I hate), the love ballads and the "deep" songs. A little bit for everybody. Maybe the American audience is like this for every band, maybe they've been conditioned to only care about the hits/singles and catchy songs by the band since the beginning. Jon said in recent times (LH era I think) that the whole "American audiences know the chorus, Europeans the verses" division was no more with the globalization and whatnot. But they haven't really changed their approach, have they?

That's pretty sad, really, to know that so many people stop at the musical layer of the song without realizing the richness of the lyrical content. It's like thumbing through a book looking just at the pics and ignoring the words. Too bad. They don't know what they're missing out.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

I've seen some pretty awful covers of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, which I think is a lyrical masterpiece.

The covers are still awful, despite the lyrical content. Even this - Leonard Cohen's version isn't even the best version - it is so much better when Jeff Buckley or Rufus Wainwright does it.

A song isn't just lyrics.

I can acknowledge that the new album has some great lyrics, but I just can't listen to the awful production and how deteriorated Jons voice obviously is.

I didn't get that, either. It seems at least as fast as Born Again Tomorrow, Roller Coaster, and God Bless This Mess; and faster than The Devil's in the Temple.

(But then, I'm from the US, so what do I know? LOL)

Or maybe it's just because we Americans have trouble understanding all the big words.

Like "superior" and "attitude". Oh, and "stereotyping".

If by "so many people" you're referring to that same group of ppl who don't get songs that are 'lyrically complex', then I gotta tell you that's a pretty broad brush you ladies are using to paint a whole continent of people. Just sayin'...

I just hope it's another overstatement regarding American people but still, Jon's been quoted a few times here and some people have made that keen observation... I don't want to insult anyone or get into a stereotypical battle of wits so Ill just leave it here. All I want to say is that I'm really happy about LWTG debut on this tour ^^

I think it's safe to say that such a generalized comment about any group of people is likely to be an overstatement.

And for the record, Jon has been known to talk outta his ass a time or two, and to contradict himself more often than that; so I wouldn't take everything he says as gospel. If Americans only know the choruses, I wonder who that group of ppl is who carries the first verse of WDOA at nearly every concert. Sounds like an excuse for not changing it up more, if you ask me.

But anyway... To get back to the topic of this thread: I agree about LWTG's debut. It's about time! Lyrically complex it may be, but it's still one of my favorite cuts from the album; and I'm glad to see it in the line-up.

There's "production" for Living With The Ghost, i.e. stuff on the curtains behind the stage. Surprised it hasn't been played before now, and hope it will show up more often.

How come they don't have the soundboard for this show?

I had this one pre-ordered and they said that the recording had technical difficulties and that it could be released at a later time.
