He probably didn't realize they were crap until after he bought them. It's hard to tell when they're hanging on the wall if they're going to be thin and crappy.

Exactly.

Plus, they were only $25.

Just want to confirm that the merchandise is really ugly and overpriced. Some shirts are even on sale ($45 rather than $55) and I still wasn't in the least tempted. I've been in Vegas for a few days seeing shows and bought t-shirts at every show. All were nice quality and were in the $25-$35 range. I bought great seats for all the shows I went to for around $150-$199; my Bon Jovi tickets cost me $325 for upper level. I'll find out soon if they were worth it

I am one of those people who will have a grumble about how expensive the merch is, but I will end up bringing home a truckload of the stuff regardless of the price.
I bought one of everything last time they toured, and will likely do the same again.

I was not a fan of most of the merchandise with the exception of the hockey jersey. I admired it in Kansas City but was hesitant to pay the $100 price tag. I broke down the next night in Des Moines and I'm glad I took the leap. It is very well made and I'd rather have a $100 Bon Jovi hockey jersey than a $140 hoodie. The only negative is that we're heading into summer and I probably won't be wearing it for months!

Question and a comment. Firstly, why? that's just a big waste of money. Two, it seems like an unhealthy obsession you have. Spending tons on tickets, then spending three times as much on merch. You're either loaded, or so far in debt, you're in denial.

On another note, I have seen some tour shirts on ebay going for 20 bucks. If you really want one bad enough, that's probably a better option, much cheaper. Most I ever paid for a shirt was $30 I believe at a Def Leppard show. Wasn't horrible quality but it wasn't great either.

I am far from loaded, I am just good as saving up. In 2010, when they toured, I'd been saving for 2 years because I knew they'd be here when the next album was released. With this tour, I've been saving since Dec 2010, in preparation for the next tour.

Its not about having heaps of money, its about planning and saving.

In 2010 I spent $300 on my ticket and $700 on merch, which I still have, and I still wear day in, day out. I don't regret spending the money I saved for that purpose.

OK, that assumption is a bit Over The Top in my opinion.

Scenario:
Bon Jovi announce a Tour. London Date gets announced in January. I get the Ticket. By The Way, I live in London. The show's in July. I've got from now 'til July to sort my finances out (with the income I get) if I want to spend on Merch, Food etc..... By planning now, I stay away from being in Debt. It's not Rocket Science

FYI: there were deep lines at all the merchandising stalls before and after the concert. The vendors looked dead on their feet from filling all the orders. I saw 2 women in front of my seats who arrived late and were wearing great t-shirts. I thought I had missed seeing them prior to the show when I was checking things out. So I hung around and went to all three merchandising areas after the show and that t-shirt wasn't in evidence. I now think it was something being sold outside the venue somewhere. I was surprised that there weren't any programs for sale as I thought every tour had a program. [Although I must admit I bought programs for the last tours through their website and hated them.] I think their merchandising leaves a lot to be desired but they are raking in the $$$$$.
