Also, the crew that has the flu do not need to attempt to assemble the stage and lighting. It could be dangerous for all.

Unless it's crew that the band specifically need, like guitar techs that know the guys equipment and set ups, working crew are pretty easy to replace. There is nothing special about the stage on this tour, it's very basic, so any road crew familar with building stages could be drafted in. There are always more crew available at the drop of a hat. If the band members were fit and healthy the shows would have gone ahead regardless...

I'm not a doctor and I'm not 56 years old but I guess it's not the same having the flu in your 20's or 30's or even your 40's than when you are near your 60's
And there no reason to risk and destroy more his voice with the HOF performance just around the corner.
If they have to postpone the shows I'm sure they will have strong reasons, for me it is well done.

Well I am 56 years old (!) and the only thing I notice that’s different than when I was “younger” is that it’s harder to lose weight! I just had the flu (56 year old husband - still runs marathons - just did also and he never gets sick) and with a couple days of rest we are just fine.

But then we don’t have to sing which has to be impossible to do when ill. I’d rather they cancel than Jon hurt his voice. Postponing was a good call.

I feel bad for people who travel to see them. I’m sure they would have gone on if they could. No one wins with a situation like this.

I don’t think age has that much to do with it, but what strain of flu they have. I got one back in August that lasted 11 days and I was so dehydrated I had to get IV fluids twice. I avoided the hospital, but younger, healthier people than me were hospitalized for a week with the same symptoms. I’m 42, btw.

I wouldn’t want the pressure of. deciding to postpone or not! It affects sooooo many people. This is why I don’t go to concerts I’d have to fly to in the US or other countries. Just don’t know what could/can happen.

I’ve only read that the band and crew have the flu. Maybe Jon doesn’t?? But I cannot imagine how he’d escape it with all of the kissing he’s done in the audience lately....

The Montreal Gazette said Jon, but didn’t mention the band or crew. I think they jumped the gun with their article.

Even if the crew can be replaced it's good that they rescheduled the concert.
If you have a cold, flu or whatever similar your vocal cords could swell up (You'll sound hoarse due to that) and singing during that time could possibly cause actual problems with the voice.

I am glad they postponed, however...

I have tickets for Newark, so I’m nervous about that show. I’m traveling 10 hours, plus I would have had to cancel my hotel by 3pm today to avoid first nights deposit, so I’m not getting that back. I know many will be flying in. You didn’t use to have to worry about Jovi canceling. I probably need to stop traveling so far to see them.

I'm in the same boat, have tickets for Sunday. He should be ok by then, but if it's a serious flu you never know. I hope it passes quickly!
