Well, I guess that's why I got so mad at Strangers post. My screams would have been for Richie's solo, not Jon's booty shake. Yeah, I smile and find it amusing when he does his little act, but when I'm screaming it's for the music. I know that many of the other women there are screaming for Jon, but I guess I'm old enough now to be over liking someone for their looks. I appreciate them for their music now. I just get so sick of hearing that us women are only fans of Jon's good looks and can't be fans of the music if we find Jon (or whichever band member) attractive.

well I can say that NOT every young fan is into Bon Jovi for their looks. because I can tell you right now, no one my age likes them because they are "too old", and if you get into Bon Jovi, its because of the music. Im only 16 but I love Bon Jovi because of the music. all during concerts I scream and sing all the time. No matter what song is on because I love Bon Jovi music. when they played these days at Mohegan, I was so happy I couldnt even hold on the emotions in because I find that to be one of the most touching songs. I had to sing it the whole time and I found it sad when tons of people just sat down.
But when Jon shakes his butt and does something out of the ordinary, its funny and yes girls laugh and they find it funny. that doesnt mean that just because girls scream for him when he does that, that girls dont enjoy the music as much. thats a generalization because, please, I would be going to see Nsync if I did what was considered "normal" at my age. But no, I prefer a real band. I think sometimes people underestimate crowds because they make generalizations. you should just enjoy the concert and the band and not worry about whats around you. thats what I did when I went to Mohegan because there was this woman infront of me that only went because she liked Jon and I had fun and just ignored her. you gotta get over those facts because it happens at every concert and it does happen at Bruce springsteen because Ive seen it. its just a fact of life that not everyone enjoys the band in the same way you do but that doesnt mean that they dont enjoy the band, and trust me, I wouldnt like the band if they had no talent. I always listen to their music, atleast 3 hours a day.

Sorry I know this is really generalizing but from this day I don't believe any female that she likes Bj because of the music.
Yes, it is generalizing. You're wrong. I can only speak for myself, but I *I* don't listen to anything that I don't like because the singer or guitarist or whoever looks good. Looks have no bearing on the quality of the lyrics or vocals or music. I'm not going to pay $500 for tickets and fly 1500 miles to LOOK at a band if I think they sound like crap or put on a bad show. I'll get a better view from a videotape and save my time and money and nerves.

There ARE women who like Bon Jovi because of the music. I think that any woman who was shallow enough to go buy records because some guy in the band looks good would probably be shallow enough to go buy some other band's music the next week because they looked good. I honestly don't think that people hang onto a band for 15 years or longer based on looks--especially a band like Bon Jovi that takes 4 or 5 year breaks at times. If you were shallow enough to base your musical purchases on looks, you'd probably be stupid enough to need to be constantly reminded that the band looked good by seeing them all the time and that doesn't happen with Bon Jovi.

As far as the rest of your review, I get it. I've been in that position where you think, "Why the hell are these people sitting down and acting bored during DRY COUNTY?" or "Man, I feel sorry for Richie. Poor guy. No wonder he doesn't sing very often" or "These Days! They're playing These Days! OMG! It's These Days!!" and then you see the rest of the crowd is waiting for them to pop out another Bad Name or Bad Medicine or Bad Whatever.

But I've also been in the position of seeing the entire audience moved by a musical number--everyone swaying and melding together during I'll Be There For You in St. Louis 2000; or everyone caught up in Never Say Goodbye at the same show. I've looked around the arena and realized WHY they play Bad Name at every show. When you turn around and see what the band is seeing--22,000 people singing every word at the top of their lungs you think, "Okay, I get it now." There ARE times at the show where the music is the bonding force. It may not always be that way. Not everyone can experience a concert on the physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual level of someone who is totally into the words and message of EVERY song, but you can't put YOUR expections for a concert experience on everyone. Some people just want to have fun and that's all they go for. Some of us follow the band almost like a religion and it means more to us. I can assure you, most of us who stick with the band for half our lives and longer, are not sticking with them for looks.

Becky

One always sees what one wants to see. (Interesting if you will understand this comment.) Why don't YOU stop paying attention to all things that are not important and actually concentrate on the band and their music?

I find that interesting that you did not write much about the band's performance. You only said it was awesome and that's it. No details. You only provided detailes about one performance that failed. Interesting indeed. I think you spend too much time trying to find flaws in all things Bon Jovi. Are you sure you are in it for the music?

It's usually 'men' who can't take Bon Jovi seriously. They see clips of Bon Jovi on MTV and see the amount of screaming girls in the crowd and it puts them off following Bon Jovi.
Now, don't get me wrong, the best thing about a BJ concert is the live music from the band, but sometimes I fell out of place when I realise how many women there are around me screaming to see Jon.
I'm not saying that ALL women are the same, Bon Jovi have many true music lovers but the fact is they (Jon) seem to attract too many "I love you Jon" lovers!

Firstly, what I'm seeing here, is the men agreeing, and the women who represent about 0.000001% of a crowd are getting their knickers in a twist because somebody made a valid point which athough implicates them isn't refereing to them.

We all know that people who are women are into the music, but the fact is, lots and lots aren't. Go to backstage and read posts like "why do men go to see Bon Jovi?". Lot's of chicks it seems go to the concert because they think the bands attractive, because Jon Bon Jovi is a huge celebrity, and because they know It's My Life.... As for the popularity of the band, if I started to sing It's My Life during an english class, everybody would be able to sing allong, because it's just very well known.

Secondly, have you ever been at a concert where the crowd are anoying you completely? I saw Roger Waters a while ago, and it was an increadible concert, musically one of the best you're ever likely to see. However, there were some guys near me who were drinking, smoking all the way through. They were getting loud, shouting in inapropriate times, and were just pissing about. It partly ruined the concert for me, I felt angry and upset during the show, and it made it difficult to concentrate on the music. If you feel anoyed because somebody else is spoiling the show for you it's difficult to get competely into the music. Same's happened at other concerts, where dick heads in the crowd spoil certain moments. It can ruin you're night! You are there to see the band, but if you feel like you don't belong because it's feeling like a perving show for women, then I can understand the frustration. You can't just turn off from these things.

And don't tell me that their aren't any female musicians whose music you like, yet still find them to be attractive!
honestly no.... There are so few women making good music, and on top of that you have to find attractive ones!!!! Let's face it, most musicians are male, I'm not being sexist, that's just a fact. Also few women have been involved in rock music, or heavier blues music. I'd say the only person I can think of who even remoetly fits that, is Uli's girlfriend/wife who sang Hiroshima with him in Manchester. (who was very attractive, but she wasn't on the bill, and onl performes evey now and agan)

who cares? listen to the music, enjoy the show, forget everyone else and think about yourself. and don't tell me these people affect the concert because they don't unless you let them. everyone has the right to enjoy the concert in their own way.
