My Hyde Park review.
Okay, hereīs my first ever written review of a gig (pretty nervous Iīd say). I arrived to London sometime 10am, found my hotel, unpacked my bags and got some sleep. After that I went to meet Heini and her mother. And finding them took forever, I mustīve walked Bayswater Road back-and-forth maybe three times. And the whole time they were at Park Lane. Oh, well, we met. We went to see the gig place, make sure about the gates and all. I took some pics of the stage. Then we went our separate ways. I went to get something to eat. After that me and Teemu met, got his stuff, then to my hotel to get my stuff. After that we met Satu. And off we go! We met Heini at the gate X11 as agreed. I didnīt even have the time to sit down as Laura sent me sms to meet them at gate X5. So we headed to gate X5. I remeber shaking their hands and being all friendly and all. Chatting about something. Then it gets a little grey here. I remember someone...Kenny was it, yeh, we chatted about the sets or something. Anyway, as far as I can remember, we had a laugh. And we were there for a very long time (help me out guys).
Anyway, I remember waking up...and after I woke up, me and Teemu took our bags to my hotel. Then got back to queue but suprise waits...the organisers decided that the gate X11 is only a emerency exit and they say that the real entrace for us is X12. I guess we were a little sleep since we didnīt notice it at first. So we lost our number one place, and ended up behind. After things have calmed a little, the girls take their bags to their hotel.....the next 8 hours...hot...headache...burnt skin...shortage of water. Until the gates opened aproximately at 4pm. Then we ran like hell and lost the girls. Teemu and I got to the front of the second barricade, and the girls say they got to the second row of the the second barrier. I bared the heat there maybe one hour but then I had to leave my place since I was very weak. I hadnīt eaten anything in 24 hours(and the next time I ate on sunday morning), I went to the toilets. When I got back I tried to get as good a place as I could. I got to maybe 10m away from Teemu, and fortunately the view was great.
Live was, well, ok. I really canīt say much about them since I was praying for them to stop(now donīt get me wrong, I just wanted the Jovi show to start as soon as possible). I remember them repeating "Hi. Weīre LIVE". None of the songs really caught my attention.
If I remember correctly, BJ hit the stage 7.15pm or something like that. Hereīs the set with comments....
1. Bounce - Got ME jumping but none of the people around me. Wonder why people go to these gigs if they are not willing to have great time.
2. Bad name - NOW this got everyone to raise their hands and sing as loud as they could. No wonder they still play it. I never appreciated this at boots but when youīre there, you see the real reactions of the crowd which are great.
3. Runaway - This one was awaited by me...:
4. Everyday - Sounds suprisingly good live
5 .Prayer - Oooooh...sounds so fukcing great live...especially talk box. And I love the new guitar intro. Jon made us whoa whoa extra times after the original whoa whoaīs.
6. Undivided - not my favourite live but will do
7. Keep the faith & Sympathy for the devil - 12 minutes of heaven. Great solo by Richie. I love this combo so much! Incredible if I may say. Keep this one.
8. Wanted - audience sang the first verse. Sounded great, and I think the boys noticed it too
9. The distance - Again, not my favourite one but sounds very good live.
10. It's my life - Iīm bored with it live but it got everyone on their feet, and singing like hell, so it made it a little bit more enjoyable.
11. Lay your hands on me - Oh yeah! I love this one. And London one will be a special one for me since this girl grabbed my ass when we were singing "Layou your hands on me" without the band.
12. Misunderstood - time to listen
13. Saturday night - great song, great song. Nothing can really get this one off the set lists. Once again, got everyone singing and waving their hands.
14. Just older - Iīm bored with this one too, but it sounded quite good live.
15. I'll be there for you (Richie) - Beeeeeeeeeeeaauuutifffuuuuuuuuuuullll! No one does it like Richie. Definitely one of the highlights of the show.
16. In these arms - When this one started I didnīt even know it was this one, I quess I was still in IBTFY.
17. Born to be my baby - Greatest version Iīve ever heard. With extra Na Na Naīs....ooh, the stocks of this song keep on rising.
18 .Sleep when I'm dead/Dancing in the streets/Rockin' all over the world - This medley...this song....donīt drop it boys. It really gets the audience going, no wonder they still play it.
19. Raise your hands - RRAAAIIISEEE YOUR HAANDDS!!! Roger that. It looked very cool when everyone had their hands up to the sky. Keep this one in too. Two thumbs up.
20. I got the girl - Gah, didnīt really enjoy this one. At this time, I was afraid weīd get the same sets as the rest of the UK got but luckily I was wrong. Only highlight was the children of the band at stage during this one.
21. Blood on blood - Hell yeah! I knew I didnīt come to London all the way from Finland for nothing. An absolute highlight!
22. Lola with Ray Davies - Suprises keep on coming. I didnīt know the song at first but in the end I sang like next guy.
23. Bad medicine/shout - Well, I know Iīve critisised many times this one but KEEP IT! It really gets you going, at least me and the rest of the people at Hyde Park.
24. These days - WOW! Thanks guys, another good reason to come to London. Iīm speechles.
25. Captain crash - I actually like this one a lot, especially live. Itīs a shame I was probable the only one who waved their hands.
26. Twist and shout - Like Shout, gets you jumpinī like boucing ball.
27. Never say goodbye - beautiful, beautiful, simply beautiful. It almost got me crying. And Iīm not lying over here. It was amazing ending. Probably best song theyīve got to end a show. This wasnīt in the set list so it came just like a drop of a hand, which made it even more special....
At the end of the show there was huge fireworks....
All in all, Iīd like to thank Laura, Taija, Heini, Teemu, Satu, Marijke, Tom, Anu, Kenny and everyone else for a great time and a laugh. I had the best time with you guys.
Roll on next tour...Canīt wait.
And I almost forgot...British crowd...I SALUTE YOU. RESPECT. You are the best.
