Anyway, Deb does have a valid point. If Richie had sang as many shows as Jon has, he'd probably be struggling too. Personally, I don't think Richie can hold up on rock songs anyway - he's not a rock singer. Sure, his subtle voice suits the bluesy stuff he does on his own albums, but it really doesn't carry over all that well to the Jovi material - I'm one of the few who really doesn't rate him singing I'll Be There For You, and just can't get my head around him singing These Days at all.

I concur.

He adds a lot to the live sound with his dual-vocal with Jon (it's not really backing anymore, he's doing more to help JBJ) and his voice is superb...

But he's not a rock lead-vocalist. That requires stamina and he doesn't have it.

That wasn't the point, Jon's still a good singer although he has issues with the high notes. Somebody should kick him in his nuts, that might work.

I am slightly annoyed with bjcrazycpa since nearly everything she does here is defending mostly Jon. This is a discussion board!

Thank christ Thierry. You've hit the nail on the head.

Jon IS still a good singer, so why the millions of posts that seem like they're insinuating that he's now turned into a reject from the X-Factor or something? All I'm hearing is "Jon's voice, Jon's voice, Jon's voice" as if it's some terrible squawking, and man, it isn't. Somebody has to defend him. I know this is the anti-backstage board but it was never the anti-Jon board.

Yeah, he's not like he used to be, but he was wearing those really tight trousers then - in fact, maybe that's the only reason he could hit the high notes.

Oh, Born, I'm sure the reasons Deb's posts don't get deleted and yours do is that while some may not like her sticking up for the band at every turn, she isn't being offensive or insulting to anybody while she's doing it.

I've said recently, Jon is a good, maybe very good, singer - in-range. He can hold a note, and be varied in style. But his range is ever-shrinking.

A BJ show is still a tour de force of greatness in comparison to most, as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly, it's a discussion board. The problem is, using logic on this board like she did is futile when the rest of you idiots just attack her for using it. She has a valid point.

Anyway, cool review

I'm looking forward to the european leg myself for whatever reason. I'm looking forward to hearing Richie sing These Days, it'll make a nice change from I'll Be There For You everynight!

Yes he sounds strained, but it's no wonder when you're singing all the stuff the lead singer's supposed to sing every night.

Why does this debate come up like every five minutes? And nobody ever comes to a definitive conclusion -- because there isn't one. It all comes down to personal opinion, and I know that's been said a million times, but it's true.

Jon sings in tune, that's all I care about.

And just FTR, Richie can sing rock just as well as him <_> (imo )

^^ Welcome.

Thats someting that's not fully down to opinion - it's a fact that he goes out of key.
