Thats someting that's not fully down to opinion - it's a fact that he goes out of key.
Yeah, when he doesn't hit the high notes that he apparently doesn't even bother going for anymore.

But anyway...... I'm not one of those fangirls who worships the ground that Jon walks on, but people slate him too much these days. He knows he can't sing like he used to.

you have to admit though, this thrashing Jon just for the sake of it is getting really old.
And all of this Richie is God type of comments do so aswell.

I still think Jon could be better, but I also think that Richie could be a lot better, as a live musician as a singer and as a guitar player. And don't go with that Bullshit that Jon won't let him. It's childish and stupid.

Actually he has gone out of key on some key moments, this tour mostly.
There are clips of it on youtube, it seems to be mostly off nights were he has tried hitting those high notes and slips, yes it's a mistake, and yes it does sound bad when he does it, but it is getting analized to death here.

Exactly - we moan when he doesn't go for the high note, and we moan when he does and totally screws it up.

It's really a paradox, you know. If a song like "Wild Is The Wind" became a staple in the set, it'd be overplayed.

Richie singing "These Days" -- most were pleasantly surprised the very first night, but after 10 nights, it's getting tired...

We all just need something to complain about.

I just asked a question how exactly was that defending Jon?

And thank you to everyone that at least acknowledged the point of my question.

Thanks for the review mate

I just witnessed the 2 Sydney concerts as well (not my first Bon Jovi concerts and hopefully not my last), They were great.

Yes Jon did not hit a few notes here and there. I saw u2 in 06 and Bono missed a few too. At the end of the day Jon is not perfect neither is Bono. It comes down to the fact it is live.

The Question is should Jons voice be better now to still be included in the "worlds greatest rock singers category". My answer is no. He does still deserve his spot on that platform and honestly he is more energenic than anyone I have seen. Great voice and superb stamina and showmanshi.p The only possible rival is Springsteen (that I have seen) and its a tough call.

Everyone is entitle to their opinion, I dont think other frontman could perform as energetic as Jon and still hold a note.

He works hard obviously and the Sydney shows were a powerhouse.

Er, yes there is. I never mentioned anything of Jon or Richie being better, I just pointed out that Richie can belt out rock songs, and can be a good lead singer, bringing up the 1998 tour as the perfect evidence of that. There's your conclusion.

The very fact that Jon has sang for so many people on the New Jersey Tour doesn't have that much to do with his voice going down hill so fast for the past 7 years. It's been 20 years ago since he damaged his vocal chords, he should've learned how to use his voice properly by now. Yet each tour it gets worse and worse, while Richie, who did just as many shows as Jon did, is still able to sing the chorus of Prayer and about everything else Jon can't hit.

And even if you want to bring up the 1000 shows Jon has sung, Richie has been singing the chorus of Prayer all those shows too, and has sung it a lot more times then Jon ever has nowadays. Yet he still manages to do so every night. If Jon needs to do one song that requires a bit more of him than just whispering verses, making the fishouth and stuff like that, his voice is shot after the song.

She doesn't and I just told you all by using the logic you want us to use. So there you go.

Sorry Seb. Normally, I think your posts at least have some kind of sense, but this doesn't.

Singing backing vocals to a song is in no way the same as belting out the full 25+ tracks every single night, and even attempting to compare the two is ludicrous. And as I already pointed out, Richie's voice suits his own songs, so his own tours fine - but on the Jovi material he is sadly lacking the raw power needed to carry off songs like I'll Be There For You or These Days.

Anyway, as Blood On Blood Girl said, maybe we should get back to the point of the thread for the Aussie fans.......
