Default New debate- Setlist wishes

Do you want to see the old standards such as Bad Medicine/Shout or do you want to see them stretch a little this tour? Having just gone to two Bruce shows I would love to see them do something similar. Feature almost all the new songs from Bounce to introduce it interspersed with the old favorites (Prayer, IML, Bad Name, KTF) and some rarities (Drycounty perhaps, stuff from These Days like Lie To Me, maybe dig back to the first two albums or some B sides as they get closer to the release of the box set). Am I dreaming or do you think we will have some set list diversity this time around and really see them mix it up while stay playing the classics we all count on? Any thoughts?

I said I'd throw my 2p's worth in, so here goes:

To be honest, going on previous tours, I can't see them changing the format too much. I think we can expect a few BJ classics to kick the crowd into action, followed by majority of Bounce interspersed with a couple of classics, followed by the LYHOM, SWID, BD / Shout finish.

& then the encores.

It would be nice if it were changed though. I'd love to see a few rare tracks, such that I could come to the message board saying I'd heard...'99 in the shade with someone going - wow, we heard Fear.
Also - mixed up would be good & perhaps they should reconsider the BD / Shout medley.

My ultimate request is that they don't do Twist & Shout & Tequila - or others to that effect.

Mike

Yes, Mike- I agree. I want to come to the boards and be envious of the cities that got- say 99 In The Shade and have them be jealous of my city because we got Dry County. That is what has been happening on the Bruce board- each city seems to get a different rarity or two but the basic set list from the new album and set staples remain the same. I think with the boxset we have a chance of seeing more freeform stuff as the tour progresses, at least I hope so.

I think your suggestion sums up most of the die hard fans' wishes. Old favorites (never omit the hits, there are those in the show who just want to hear IML), plus a healthy amount of Bounce (must promote the album) plus rare stuff (pleasing diehards is a must to keep em coming back). I think this is how bands like Bon Jovi that have extensive amount of songs to choose, should make their setlist.

I have to say that Bad Medicine should be played WITHOUT Shout because it's getting too old and it should NOT close the main set. Move it somewhere else. Sleep When I'm Dead should retire too. Much as I want to see BJ concert without Bad Name/Wanted, I don't think it's gonna happen As far as I'm concerned, these songs will always be played in BJ concert: Prayer/Bad Name/Wanted/Bad Medicine/KTF/IML.

I agree with you. It´ll be like this:
Some classics to get the crowd cheering, some new stuff, LYHOM, SWID, BM/S and some hits/covers as encores.

And now what I would like them to play:

Starter: Hook me up ("hello, is there anybody out there?" )
Some fun-stuff to get the show going (99 in the shade, Blame it on the love, etc) I think this would be a new way to start the concert, and I´m sure the die-hards would love it
Then some new songs mixed with classics (lot of options, BTBMB/Just Older, Bounce, Bad Medicine, I´ll sleep when I´m dead, Joey...)
Throw in a few really rare songs (I´d love to hear Standing and Good Guys! or Love is War and Edge of a broken heart....)
And end the first part of the show with a hit song, probably IML.

As encores just a huge mix (Undivided, KTF, Prayer, It´s only RnR, Love for Sale...)
And then end the show with another Fun-tune. I really liked the Tequilla/Twist and Shout thing. Cause if the LAST song in a concert is a sad one like Never say Goodbye, you´ll be even sader that the show is over

Anyway,
KTF

My #1 wish is GET RID OF BAD NAME! So what that it was a huge hit? Always was a bigger hit and they hardly ever play it! I would love if they concentrated on Bounce songs, mixed things up by doing an acoustic set in the middle of the show like they did in 1996 (maybe Wanted, In These Arms, I'd Die for You, Born to Be My Baby, You Had Me From Hello). Jungle screams would be mandatory in every performance of KTF and KTF would be mandatory at every concert. Hee hee.

I'm all for removing Bad Name.
Always is a ballad and therefore doesn't get played so often. I think the band tries to avoid playing too many ballads in a show, in order to maintain its rock credibility.

I'm with you on that, Becky. An acoustic set would be great. And I absolutely LOVE BTBMB acoustic. It's my fav acoustic version of a BJ-song .

See, everyone, Christine and I agree on occassion! I'm sure if we got together for coffee, we'd have a grand old time and not scratch each other's eyeballs out, as might be expected. What do you think, Chris? Expresso at the Java Cafe? I'll buy.
