The Real Reason Sambongo Walked:

Richie: Jon, it's not touch the winkie unless you're doing it with you're hand. If you're not going to play the game properly, I'm going home.

I did. I love the album, even more than Everlong or Learn to fly. I think they are far from a nostalgia act, since that album is their latest and it's awesome, I know many new fans because of that record.

I think Bon Jovi each decade released a record that kept them current and not a nostalgia act, be it KTF or Crush. It brought a lot of young new fans and they were there for the new and learned about the old (what happened to me).

After Crush I don't think they released such a hit, so at least to me they are becoming a nostalgia act, but I think it has to do with the single selection and live song choice. I think they made many mistakes with singles in the past 10 years, The distance, Undivided, Any other day, Thorn in my side, Love's the only rule. All unreleased. And live they just don't play them, they stick to playing the singles and the odd song here and there. And of course if you're gonna play the singles (hits according to Jon) I'm gonna want to listen to the pre 2000 singles.

I agree. LTOR was one of the highlights for me in Dublin in 2011, it worked SO well as a closer, and I'm usually in favour of early material. I do think that is a big problem, that even the good songs from newer albums get dropped so fast. What casual fan will believe in them if not even the band/Jon does?

And how will they not become a nostalgia act if the good new stuff is not played?
