When Jon does a song no one knows it creates a lull and he has to win them back over, same with Richie but it's double as hard because people see it as a reason to leave their seats for a bit.

I'm just saying this as a fan who's noticed things, the massive moment of feet when Richie sings is disheartening.
All valid points. Especially since Richie's solo the past two tours always occurred right before Jon went onto the circle stage for the ballad lull. I don't think the song placement in the setlist would change fans using it as a bathroom break, but it would make it easier on Jon to win the crowd back over if it wasn't before Make a Memory or Amen.

All that aside, I think we're making a bigger deal about it than Richie probably ever did. I'm sure he would've enjoyed performing one of his own songs, but I just don't see him walking off the tour because of it.

There was no other show Jon nodded his head for Richie to sing it.

In hindsight, watching this video from Richie's last show it does not appear there is anything wrong. He does not look like a guy who has checked out and doesn't want to be on tour. He also does not look like he has any issue with Jon. I mean, watch the end. There was no sign at all of what was to come.

No, I have no evidence. My impression was, after Atlanta, Richie made sure he was too far away from Jon/the mic stand plus that there's no eye contact with Jon. Hence Jon had to do the second verse.

I haven't been at any of those shows during the first leg and I must say, apart from this solo-song-thing and only watching YT vids, I haven't seen any signs of issues either.

Hah, just realized now Sean Borg blocked me from ever following him on Twitter. Wow.

I'd take that as a complement. You're way cooler than he is anyway.

I think Jon should read this article and take some notes about leadership.
1. Don't understand why this was posted in the Richie thread

2. Jon cares about money, not well being of others.

Because if Jon would have been better leader, maybe Richie had not left the tour.

Maybe if Jon would've given Richie macaroni and cheese before every show, he wouldn't have left either. But you don't see me posting articles about Kraft or Velveeta run their companies in this thread, do you?

No.

I'm not a fan of Bono's music but find the article interesting. If there is a thread on Jon as a CEO, that would be a good place to put this and discuss. I also enjoy Ruth Blatt's articles in Forbes about musicians and business practices and I follow her on Twitter--some insightful stuff.
