thanks for clarifying that. So many scenarios right now, one of them has to be right.

That said, if the 'trainwreck' story is true, it's possible the band and Richie are still attempting to negotiate; it may be that they don't know anything definitively, either, at this point. Or if they do, maybe they are bound by legal issues to remain evasive on the matter.
I have only heard the term "trainwreck" used to describe someone who is a disaster, spiraling out of control--like Britney Spears (shaving her head/speaking with a British accent/placed on a 5150 hold), or Lindsay Lohan (arrest/rehab/probation/repeat), or Charlie Sheen (WINNING!). I know I'm probably overanalyzing here, but "trainwreck" to me implies a drinking/drug problem, not a financial disagreement.

Part of me wonders if Richie having his own Twitter following, and the way in which he discussed how proud he was of 'Aftermath' when it came out, really has helped him feel like he can stand on his own as an artist. Maybe he finally grew tired of not only being second to Jon, but (as it has appeared over the last few years) --been pushed further into the background re: interviews. For example, I just watched the Wal-Mart soundcheck video from this year, and at the introduction, you see Jon seated by himself. Then, the screen shows a separate video of Richie, David and Tico, who each introduce themselves and talk a bit about the new album. Why is it that the four core members couldn't have shared the same space and introduced the video together?

Also, you get things like the Katie Couric interview, where Jon gets a half-an-hour or longer onstage to chat with Katie, while Richie and Dave spend their time backstage, waiting to come out and perform.

Not too long ago, Jon and Richie would often do interviews as a duo. That seems to have lessened over the last year or two.
I think part of the reason is because Jon likes to answer band questions lately with "I...I...I" It's about him! And when Richie is there, Jon seems to cringe whenever he answers a question. Check out how annoyed he is when Richie interjects at 3:20:

I haven't speculated because nothing ever made much sense.

But now I am going with he was either in danger of or he fell off the wagon and here's why:

His contest.

From the beginning of this tour, he was on fire. In fact, IMO, with Jon's weird (and lack of) movement and lack of energy, Richie carried the show. The day before his last show with the band, Richie was the best I'd ever seen him. It's for this reason, this being alcohol/drug related didn't feel right even though that was always the most likely possibility. Think about it... over 30 years, he's had to have countless spats with Jon, but he'd never missed a show... unless he was in treatment.

Since not showing up to play, he's tweeted 3 times and there has been 1 youtube message -that was clearly written by someone else. For all we know, the tweets came from someone else. Why wouldn't he make that announcement?

Richie's tweets leading up to his "no show" were 1) two strange tweets (given the situation) about Forgiveness St and Easter/born again and 2) he was watching contest entries.

If his departure was because of a fight with Jon, wouldn't keeping his fans be a priority? I understand not commenting much... getting into a tabloid fight wouldn't help anyone BUT I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't keep his commitment, when clearly he was watching the entries until whatever happened happened.

So yeah, it's either alcohol or he's been learning how to make ricin.

Jon always said "What happens to BJ stays in BJ".

Now that line from Just Older comes to my mind: "We got secrets that we'll take to the grave".

I guess we'll have to wait and see... or think of any other stuff until the answer comes out of the closet.

Wait...are you in the know here? Are we back to the "touch the winkie" theory?

Jon has said how he loves the Sopranos - maybe Richie has concrete boots on?
Italian mafia theory now

Interesting.

If he has been fired he only has himself to blame.

This thread has so many jokes that I can't tell if you're being serious or not.

Have to agree with this. What would she do if she knew you'd posted it here?
