Poor Tico, coming up on his 60th birthday and physically probably feels like he's falling apart. This one, I've had. I was back to work in 12 days but had 4 weeks with limitations on lifting, abdominal strain, couldn't even do my own yard work or push a vacuum. I was in my early 40's. I'm sure he is in great shape but drums, at his level, are a workout. I know I would be disappointed with both he and Richie missing but I also understand trying to keep going. So many jobs and local economies are pumped up by them coming to town - to say nothing of their own bank accounts. Damned if they do, damned if they don't should become this tours motto. I want to try and watch the live stream so I guess we'll see what happens with the set list.

Well, who in their right mind thought that Tico WOULD be ready for Rio? Even without the gall bladder problem (not that unusual as it was most likely infected by the appendix) he was looking for at least a month of rehab. Don't expect him before the Philly show (11/5). Nice to finally hear from him "personally," though.

P.S. If you ARE going to Philly show, VOTE EARLY!!!

I just got back from DJ Hardwell, Singapore Formula 1 and the Afterparty and I am so drunk but this was easily one of the best nights of my life.

I'm willing to bet it won't be VANILLA at all.

My husband had laser gall bladder surgery in the nineties. I can't imagine they do it any other way these days, at least not around here. Paul was in his 40s at the time and he had the surgery on Friday, came home with 2 bandaids on Saturday and went to work on Monday. It really wasn't bad at all.

And interestingly, they first diagnosed Paul with appendicitis too. After he told them he had his appendix out at 15, they then looked at the gall bladder. It's possible that Tico was misdiagnosed to begin with.

I guess my point is that Tico may not need to be out that long. We will soon see.
