Default NRL want Jovi to Return to Australia in October

Quote:
THE NRL wants Bon Jovi to perform at this year's grand final following the positive response to the game's new advertising campaign featuring the world's biggest touring band.

Bon Jovi's song This Is Our House, which is the theme for the new commercial that was unveiled at yesterday's NRL season launch at Casula Powerhouse, is expected to rocket up the Australian charts after being released as a single this week and officials hope the US supergroup will come to Sydney to play live at the grand final on October 2.

Bon Jovi are believed to be playing in Singapore around the same time and NRL marketing manager Paul Kind plans to inquire whether the band would fly to Sydney.

While the fee for Bon Jovi to perform would exceed the usual budget for grand final entertainment, the cost would be offset by the fact the NRL could use the opportunity to film content for the 2012 commercial.

Events NSW may also contribute as they did for last year's V8 Supercar race at Homebush, which featured a Guns N' Roses concert.

As revealed in yesterday's Herald, Bon Jovi posted a link to the commercial on their Facebook page, which has more than 9 million fans.

''We're excited to share this TV spot for Australia's NRL with all of you,'' the band wrote. ''The league will be using our song This Is Our House in this season's advertisements.''

By 6pm last night, more than 8500 had responded by clicking the 'like' button, while many of the more than 500 comments included inquiries about whether the band would play at the grand final.

''I can't remember a season launch and an advertising campaign that has been so well received,'' NRL chief executive David Gallop said. ''It is an ideal fit to have the world's biggest touring band coupled with the skills of our players.''

One of the stars of the commercial is Wests Tigers playmaker Benji Marshall. He was given the honour of officially opening the season yesterday.

Marshall, who said he liked the advertisement, used the opportunity to encourage his peers not to put themselves in positions that could tarnish their own or the game's image....[article goes off topic]

Firstly, I know the article really means nothing official, but do you think it would be possible for the band to return to Australia at the end of the year? Surely they wouldnt come for a one off performance? If the band are still touring (the article says they are rumoured to be in Singapore at the time - something we didnt know?) then they may as well do a second Australian leg. They have never done two Aussie legs in one tour. It technically isnt even the same tour anymore). Plus it wouldve been nearly a whole year since they were here last.

Am I dreaming or is it possible? Us Aussie fans aren't as fortunate as North American fans. We only get between 4-7 shows per tour... and that's if they hit our shores at all on a tour.
