The show is terrific, and David should have his moment in the spotlight. The show has been nominated for other awards from other groups, and there's been no mention of David going to those presentations. The Tonys are THE biggie, and I think it's great that Jon/the band/Jovi management/whoever is making it possible for him to attend. I can't imagine the substitute will be anyone other than Jeff Kazee, and he's exceedingly qualified. (BTW, Kazee was on the keys at the fan club show last February when we all expected a hits show . . . and got the farthest thing from it!)
EDIT - I was writing this reply while Kathleen posted hers. I see that we had a lot of the same thoughts.

I mean - everyone is ok with David sitting at awards shows instead of playing with the band, and all of those people are those who will not attend the show.
Nothing against Jeff at all, maybe he knows how to play keyboards better than Bobby guitar

I wish David his success, I also like his musicials. however, I find all of those award shows utterly boring, snobish and embarassing. I don't know Tony's but I don't expect anything mindblowing. Hopefully he will win something so his absence would have some sense
