Default O2 - Jons Comments - Another Ticket!

He better not let me down on this - in light of the youtube interview from Dec 29th in which jon says the following things about the O2 shows :
"You wont see the same one twice"
"There will be accoustic nights"
"There will be whole album play throughs"

I've gone and bought another ticket for another show - no pressure then!!!!!!!!

Lot to live up to.

If Jon ever says which night is the acoustic night, I'll pay the money to be there!

A few acoustic tracks here and there are fun but a whole concert would be a snoozefest for me

I would too. I have seen Jon acoustic many times and I have always enjoyed the show.

He said you'd never see the same show twice, which is something they've been saying since the New Jersey tour. He thinks that every show they play is different, while it's only for the die hards that mixing up Story Of My Life with Just Older makes it a different show.

He also didn't say they'd be doing acoustic nights, he said they'd be doing acoustic driven nights. A full acoustic show like Yokohama looks good on paper but Bon Jovi rarely really rocks on acoustic performances.

I don't really expect him to play any whole albums apart from (maybe) Bounce, Have A Nice Day, Lost Highway and The Circle. Jon can't sing Hearts Breaking Even or Blame It On The Love anymore even if someone would grab him by the testicles for the entire song. He doesn't want to be remembered as an eighties rock star, there's a reason why stuff like Let It Rock and Homebound Train barely have been played the last 20 years.

I really hope for everyone who's bought a ticket that they'll be proven wrong, but these are just Jon's intentions. I'm sure he once again believes it when he's said it, but he's said it so many times by now that there really is no reason to believe him at all. And I certainly wouldn't use them as an excuse to buy another ticket. Had his intentions been real surely he should've wanted to play the rare songs already on the promo shows.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

And we also said before the last tour that he couldn't sing Always anymore

And I bet before the LH tour you'd have said they'd never play This Ain't A Love Song, Stick To Your Guns, Lie To Me, or Damned again.

And no one at the fan club show could have expected Never Say Die, or god forbid, Don't Leave Me Tonight.

So while I know Jon has said all this stuff before - I actually think he's beginning to get it more - and I don't think he'd want a repeat of the negative reviews at the Prudential show.

I only have a ticket to one night, but I was planning on going to at least one other, so here's hoping anyway

Your argument about playing them at the promo shows doesn't make much sense though. why would they want to play rare songs at a short hour long show to promote a brand new album?

With that voice of the Have A Nice Day Tour Jon would never have been able to sing Always like he did on the Lost Highway Tour. A lot of his upper register was completely shot at that tour, even before it started. Yet on the Lost Highway tour it became better as the tour went on. I don't believe Jon did that on his own.

Not really. I'd have said the chances were highly unlikely. They've played Damned on every tour apart from the HAND tour, and I always wondered why they never played This Ain't A Love Song as it's pretty easy on Jon's vocals compared to Bed Of Roses or Always. The point is though; 1 rare song per show doesn't make a show completely diffferent. Maybe for us, but when Jon said that he wasn't thinking about the die hard, he had the average joe in mind who he wants to buy tickets for more than just one show.

That's true, but that was a one off aimed at die hards. These are 10 shows aimed at the wealthier Bon Jovi fans. A big difference there.

That's true, but the negative reviews of the Prudential Shows were mostly about them not being on fire and trying to pretend something they were not. With the shows at the O2 they've already done the big stuff in America, they'll be warm and can play 10 of their what we consider average shows.

What's the point of playing Lost Highway then? Or Whole Lot Of Leavin'? It's because Jon wants to play those songs. If he'd really be looking forward to play rare stuff he'd have started to play the rare songs already. I don't understand why they'd have to wait for the tour before they can start playing rare tracks. If there'd be an honest intention of playing songs like Damned etcetera, why wait for a tour when you want to play them already?

It's like saying "I'm going to eat a Magnum, but I'll wait for the summer."
