Excellent opener, for sure. But Jon shooting up through a spring-loaded trap door in sync with pyro makes LYHOM win in my book. High octane energy right off the bat.

Jon is Satan. He's good at tricks and deceiving you.

Because the band are entertainers, if they show the crowd their sad faces then the crowd will feel their sadness and get sad. The crowd is at music concert though.
They try to enjoy and show the crowd a great performance as much as possible since they have to do shows without Richie for people who already made arrangements such as traveling, taking holidays from work for shows.
If the crowd refuse to see shows without Richie at any cost, then they would already make a request to be refunded and not be at the shows.

Your right they are entertainers but they weren't entertaining with Richie and had another great show last night.
But yeah keep blaming JBJ....

I apologize for implying that the actual audience at the concert might have a better grasp for how the song worked than you.

Apology accepted. If you actually read the post instead of just being deliberately dismissive because you dislike any criticism towards the band, you might gain a shred of respect.

I don't need to be at a show to know what I like. Any opinion on a discussion thread is there to provoke discussion, if you don't like it, block me, pal.

I know that most crowds would go apeshit if Jon came out to 'I'm a Little Teapot' because they'd be wetting their knickers at the very sight of him... personally, I like a little more oomph to my entrance...

Let me know when you actually have something constructive to add... I've got a feeling it's going to be some time.

I know I'm a broken record with this, but IML should be the opener. It's a massive hit that the crowd goes apeshit for anyway, so it would skyrocket the energy at the star of the show. Plus the crowd would be so into singing that the live deficiencies of the song could be masked. Plus think about it: Pitch black arena, crowd read for the start of the show:
*Bwuam Bwuam*
"This ain't a song for the broken hearted."

Oh not this crap again. Someone's age has no bearing on their right to have/state an opinion.

Covers all the bases I think, good shout.

It's not even that I don't like Water, it's an okay tune but it's mid-paced, just like BoB was.

But as I said in my first post on the thread, it's not just about the song, it's about the energy and whether I was there or I wasn't (I have a feeling someone ain't gonna let that one go) if Jon crouching down a few times, bobbing his left shoulder a bit, staring out at the crowd with a little smile for the ladies and then walking over to Bobby is deemed as enough energy for an opening tune in some people's books, great; knock yerself out, have fun.

For those who say 'it's really easy to criticise when you weren't there,' or 'they'll never please everyone' etc... this is a discussion board... I don't think I am alone in believing that discussing how the band have transitioned as a live act is a valid point to make.

I have standards that THIS BAND set long ago... Just a shame it took Richie leaving again for Jon to start wiggling his shoulder a bit.

Now THAT is energy with a guitar...

Then it starts to get a little Springsteen...

Then he brings it back a bit in 2011...
