I have to disagree with this as well. I Love This Town has an obvious country vibe to it, more so than any other track on the record. That's probably why I hate it with a passion.

When I hear I Love This Town, I hear a somewhat weak attempt to rewrite something Wild In The Streets, in order to get "cheap pops" from whatever town the band is playing in.

I can definitely hear the country influence in ILTT .. just listen to the first few seconds: the guitar twang and Jon's "Ah ahwlyeees noo that ah lahked this plaaaaace ..."

Granted, it become less country after that, and does have a bit more Wild In The Streets - y vibe about it, but you can still hear the twangy guitars and the pedal steel and Jon's attempted southern drawl, especially during the verses.

What was the point of this discussion again?

I loved this show. As someone mentioned there was some feedback and Richie's guitar sounded wonky at times but I really liked the set list. The crowd was a bit more lively than the previous night. As far as ILTT, it works very well for the US audience, the video of specific things to a city like a football, baseball, and hockey teams, gets big cheers every time. But, this song and video seem tailored to the US audience. Not sure what they will do overseas but I agree, I don't see it going over as well, and therefore, highly doubt, the approach will be the same. They'll probably try the song in a few places and then my guess, is it will be ditched.

Well, in Perth, when Jon start "it's alright"-ing before Who Says, about 20 people went crazy and 80% of the crowd had no idea what he was on about. For ILTT it was more like 6 people getting mildly excited. If that gives you any indication.

Numbers are very rough "estimates" btw.

I don't mind the song personally, just hate it in the encore. I don't think about genres too much but it did stand out for me right away as being the most country track on LH. On the other hand I've never thought about Make a Memory as being country at all.
