If Jon wants to play there, he should. End of story.
As much affect as artists boycotting playing South Africa during apartheid or those artists that refused to play for all white audiences in the US. Its brings more world attention to the issues, and it does bring pressure.

I'm not going to open a Pandora 's box here and start this debate... So will just stick to saying that South Africa apartheid was something completely different. No one will prevent Palestinians from attending the concert nor will they be treated any differently. In fact, Tel Aviv is probably one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Not to mention that Jovi will be playing places where one goes to jail for being gay. Or where kids are sentenced to death for having too much weed in their backpack. In Malaysia, the government is hugely discriminating against the Chinese population. Yet in Tel Aviv, which is probably the most Western of all these places, they should just boycott because the government is engaged in a territorial dispute with a country run by a terrorist organisation. Well yes. That makes sense.

Very well put, and I think it's great that so many Israeli fans will get to see the band for the first time. Also welcome to the forum!

it would be great if they could play HOOK ME UP in Tel Aviv

''One of the more socially oriented songs on the record is “Hook Me Up,” an uptempo track that builds rhythmically and features one of the band’s trademark soaring choruses. The tune is about a boy in the West Bank during the mounting struggle between Israel and Palestine.

“The kid’s on a ham radio and he’s trying to communicate with the outside world,” said Bon Jovi. “It’s based on a true story we read in the paper.”

I'd say that's as likely as Jon opting to play Tokyo Road in Japan or Misunderstood in Brazil. Sadly, he is not known to vary setlists based on locations they play. Except that Europeans like These Days and Americans don't, that's where his knowledge ends.

This. And he also thinks that South America doesn't like These Days when it was one of their biggest albums here.
