Aloha !

I can live with this set, and really like the fact that they went for the more spontaneous things, even though Mystery Train is something not that many people enjoy on this board.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Holy ****.
Damn, Diamond Ring and NSG, (and even though I'm not a big fan of it, it is rare) Mystery Train. Sounds like a great show.
What kind of reaction did Diamond Ring get?
Hopefully it was good enough to stick around for a while.

I am so freaking jealous of Calgary right now, it's not even funny.

It's an Edmonton/Calgary rival thing. WOW Our set list was good, but this.....I am speechless.

Diamond ****ing Ring? ahhhhhhhhh.......

They really pulled out the rarities like I've never seen. I am regretting not driving down there.

Salaam Aleikum,

You're right, its not about the songs itself..... cause one night its Mystery Train, the next night its Damned, or 99 In The Shade, Wild is the Wind, etc. Just pull more from the library and you're bound to please MORE people.

Can you imagine acoustic Something to Believe In from the small stage? Now THAT would get my attention. Make a Memory, Acoustic Mystery Song, and at that point I would even settle for crap Bed of Roses version.

Yup - that says it all. A few "extras" thrown in and everybody is happy (or at least happier)

I wasn't there, obviously, but the Backstage PBP thread went crazy when Diamond Ring came through, and the person sending the songs via text messages said the same thing about the crowd going nuts and Jon being surprised by the reaction to the song. I hope he gives this some thought and realizes that it only takes a couple of gems per night to change the perception of the set lists significantly. Merry Christmas, Calgary!

NSG was acoustic. Jon and Richie on the small stage.

And crowd reaction was pretty good to Diamond Ring. Not as many people singing along as with NSG but the crowd did cheer pretty loud for it. Part of it may however have been the fact that both guys were right there in the audience so they would have cheered anything. But the look on my face was probably priceless.

Going through the, um, 200 pictures and couple of videos I took, and I am kind of choked. I only got the last minute or so of NSG, I thought I had the whole thing but the batteries died partway through and maybe that erased the first part? Dissapointing. But I got all of Diamond Ring. It's a 10 mp camera tho so even the short NSG is to big for youtube.

When I read the setlist, my jaw dropped! Wow!

Maybe they're starting to get it (and will continue doing it!)

How long was the show?
