Ughh... I joke woke up and I officially have no voice! LOL... As for Saturday Night, he did a bunch of ad-libs... I mean, the song itself was close to 8 minutes long!

Didn’t mean to be hyper-critical, I just get tired of these uneducated music critics not giving the veteran rock bands their proper due. They are so afraid to say that a veteran rock band was actually better than a current popular band, that gets the heavy media coverage, like Coldplay, Foo Fighters, etc. ( I have a great, "Billy Idol gets even" story here I will post another time. It's something that Bon Jovi should do.)

It's obvious that Bon Jovi blew the sold out American Airlines Center away last night. And, standing stage left-front, I know what BJ did the night before at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, before a sold out crowd that was announced today.

FYI: I made a post on this subject on the Oklahoma City thread re:

Promoter AEG Live makes it official. Oklahoma City was a sell out - 18,042. I was already informed that Dallas, last night, was a sell-out although it’s not official. So...2 for 2 to kick off the second leg.

The public has spoken.

RockMusic: Since you were talking about how critics suck here's a post from the backstage board from a critic WHO HASN"T EVEN SEEN THE CONCERT yet and is SLAMMING BON JOVI

Taken from BSWJBJ Board:

So, I was flicking thru the newspaper this morning and reading the supplement that comes with it. They usually review movies, music, concert etc. I open it up and right away there's a picture of Jon and a listing of the show in Charlotte next Wednesday.

Here's the little "preview" they wrote up about the show (be prepared )

Do the time warp again

What year is it anyway? Bon Jovi, a band well past it's expiration date, is performing Wednesday in Charlotte. Jon Bon Jovi. Lots of hair. Good looking lad. Made innocuos "lite" hard rock. Became a pretty fair actor.

Now, he and his namesake band are back, traveling the nostalgia trail, picking pockets, milking memories. To be fair, there are worse bands of Bon Jovi's ilk. And the man himself is a far more musically complex person then his band would imply (he is a longtime supporter of Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, going so far as to tour with the band in relative anonymity).

The question is - how do you put a price on memory? In this case, memories can run from $50-$90.

Ask yourself, was Bon Jovi really that good?

And that was wrote even without going to see them in concert.

But, but, the guy gave him a credit for being a decent actor!!!!

In any way, yeah I begin to think that 80's rock music is the most underrated genre of music because it is always bashed to no end by 'critics'. As far as I'm concerned, if you don't pay ticket to go to the show then you should not review the show. If you don't buy an album or haven't even heard it, then you should not review the album.

Ok, just checking in here too....

Ryan's review covered just about everything. Blood on Blood BLEW me away. I was NOT expecting this song. It's one of my all time faves....from the era where I fell in love with this band, and being that my sister was with me at this show and we are really best friends, I was very emotional as well. So I'm right there with you Ryan....I completely gotcha there. : )

I think Jon's performance was better in Dallas than in OKC...maybe a bit more warmed up. But both shows the vocals and music sounded amazing. I think Jon's voice is in top-notch form and he really belted it out on Welcome to Wherever You Are.

I was 2nd row center again and Jon did some pretty amazing things up there. There was one girl in the front row that had a sign that said, "Here's your doctor" and during Bad Medicine, Jon literally laid down on the stage and stretched for all of his might out to her with his lips puckered up! She was stretching right back and they finally made it. I was stretched out over the row of seats in front of me trying to get as close as I could and I *think* I got a picture of all of this. I was deliberating whether I should watch it through my camera or not, so I'm not quite sure, it happened so fast! But it was so amazing! I can't believe he did that!

Also, Jon was on the catwalk at one point and motioned for someone to throw a baseball cap up at him. They did and he put it on and it was a Dallas Desparados hat! That's the arena football team here and being that Jon HATES the Dallas Cowboys and the Depserados are owned by the Cowboys organization, I thought it was too funny! He made a joke about it of course, BUT, he came out in his Soul jersey after the encore and really rubbed that in. He was cool about it all though and just encouraged everyone to support the Desperados here. Gotta get that AFL plug in. LOL

I had such an amazing time! This weekend was unbelievable....that is the only word I've been using to describe it. I'm glad I got to meet so many new fans, and hope to meet more of you in the future. It's great to be able to share experiences like this!
