I prefer to hear a tighter band than a 50 year-old bloke running about the stage just so we can all feel like he is 'in to it'.

Just a thought--maybe Jon's doctor told him to be careful because his knees are prone to injury. Maybe that's why he's not pushing himself to be all over the stage like he used to.

still, being careful and standing motionless are two different things.. just my 2c.
he really struggles during It's my life especially during the 'did it my way' bits. if he's got a bold doctor that tells him to stand still he might as bloody well have his vocal coach advising him to tune down the band's instruments another half step. It wouldn't kill the music and again, barely anyone would notice (save from us geeks). It'd really allow Jon to sit his vocals more comfortably. Plus, much less or practically no whining about him not hitting certain notes. It's a win-win situation.

Again, that's not what Bon Jovi is about. This is a band that has always been about pure escapism; not tight musicianship. Jon shines the most when he's at his most animalistic level.

I'm a big Oasis die-hard , and I've never been to a Bon Jovi show where the energy and atmosphere was as high as at a Oasis show, even though Liam stayed there motionless for all the show. However, that's Liam, he's always been like that and the fans got used to it, and actually find him a great frontman (myself included). However, Bon Jovi fans have always seen Jon moving around a lot, and that used to be his way of delivering his energy. When he is just standing there on the mic spot is really lame.

Bon Jovi and Oasis are my two favorite bands, so I'm not saying that Oasis is better than Bon Jovi or the contrary, I'm just saying that what works for Oasis doesn't work for Bon Jovi.

Whatever. I just don't get it still.

And Jon can still be 'animalistic'. There is performances from the previous tours all the way down to 'Bounce' where he is shining behind and acoustic guitar and letting his passion through.

You hit the nail on the head.

That's different. In those performances he still moved and sang in a way that you could feel his energy come through the mic and guitar. For example, if you watch last night's performance of Wild is the Wind, you'll see the dictionary definition of boring.

If he's going to stay still for a prolonged period of time, he has to compensate such lack of movement with solid/above-average vocals and thus far, that has not been the case.
