Read the thread again, most people are complaining more at very average songs which aren't recent being staples. Playing more songs from LH except the new album is bizarre. I do have to question amen and the fighter being played back to back, that would surely send the crowd to sleep.

It's not as if them performing new songs made them win over any crowds lately.

Jon has said the minute they turn into a nostalgia band he'll knock it on the head. Nothing to do with filling stadiums - perhaps you didn't quite get what I said. I'll be clearer next time for you. Sorry. All the best.

I understand that and yes it is annoying to listen to songs that you don't particularly like but no matter what songs they choose pre What About Now Jon wants the emphasis to be on the new songs at least until the album is released and people get their favorites then hopefully he will only play those

I think that they could change it around more and obviously will do the more they get into the tour like they always do.

The truth is they've played almost every song requested on here in the last few years and will continue to do it but the more they play them the less rare they are, so the more you get used to them. Wild is the wind is an example. If they played dry county every night no-one here would care after a few nights and be moanin they play that too much.

And if they ended on Runaway it would not leave the crowd buzzing! 85% of the crowd probably wouldn't even know it!

either Jon is testing these new ''easy to sing'' songs in bigger markets to see how the crowd reacts (here's to hoping someone around them reads twitter so they get an idea of that mount of bored people commenting during the show)

OR

he is simply having trouble early on with his voice, so he's trying to get it warmed up (in this case, it should of been before the start of the tour)

I'm having a hard time understanding what he is thinking, and I really wished someone would ask him during an interview, and we'd get an honest answer. That way i'd stop thinking about it. Because I either don't understand, or I do and it doesn't seem all that logical.

anyways, let's just say if I get this set on Wednesday night, I'll prob be as underwelmed as crowds here usually are....

Runaway was by no means one of Bon Jovi's biggest hits. It's one of their smallest actually.

Jon can say that all he wants, they toured Europe of a Greatest Hits record in 2011 and played about 2 new songs per night of the record they were touring according to Jon. Don't believe the bullshit Jon spouts of in interviews, half of the stuff he says is stuff he wants you to believe, not what he actually believes.

The minute Jon won't be able to be in the top when it comes to world tours he'll give it up. People won't bother showing up for the album cuts or new tracks and he's perfectly aware of this. He can shove this stuff down people's throats all he wants, in the end it's not what's making people come back nowadays. The back catalogue is what keeps him up there, once he stops playing most of it people will lose interest.

That sounds like a nostalgia act to me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I still say the setlist will be changed up based on market (i.e, Europe will have next to no LH tunes). Like it or not US and Canada, LH was a hit so I'm not surprised they are getting LH heavy setlists along with a heavy dose of the new stuff since the album isn't out yet and I'm sure Jon is trying to in that way promote it. I remember I bitched last tour that the Circle songs were dropped WAY to early. Even if they are going over bad, I'd rather see the band committed to playing the new stuff.

Believe it or not, Runaway is not one of Bon Jovi's most known songs. We all love it, but only fans or people that listen Bon Jovi know it.

As has already been said, no-one is complaining about the new songs. We want 7 new songs per show, hell maybe even more, its something different. I would be disappointed if the whole album hasn't been played over the course of the tour. Its the deadwood that surrounds it, you're Captain Crashes, Whole Lot Of leavin, Who Says, Lost Highways etc.. The emphasis should definitely be on the new stuff, but ignoring such swathes of the highlights of your back catalogue in favour of mediocre album cuts that have been constantly in the sets for the last 4 years is incredibly foolish.

Maybe he is playing what he thinks the crowd likes, and Lost Highway was successful in the states, but at least give a try for something else to see if the crowd react.
