18 of 26 songs holding a guitar and he apparently moved around a lot?? Look up born to be my baby... didn't move. bad name... didn't move... it's my life... didn't move. This tour is nothing like I've seen post 2000 and the vids will prove it. Autopilot at its finest.

"Bon Jovi himself was singing the song out of a sense of duty rather than conviction combined for a limp start."

"A brief bowlegged hop to the microphone aside, the seemingly ageless 50-year-old then parked himself in front of the microphone for a healthy portion of the show, even though a semi-circular catwalk that divided the floor-dwellers — willing to spend $1,500 to watch him up close — from those who could only afford $600, beckoned."

But, overall not a bad review especially closing with they've become discerning.

I was a bit surprised about that sentence really, considering most of the review was describing the show as a rather average excersize with not many highlights. It's odd how after 30 years critics and quite a large amount of die hards are on the same page when it comes to Bon Jovi.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Yeah right, he can't be a proper nostalgia act onstage since he can't sing them. I bet he'd love to be able to play every pre 2000 song, but when you can't, I can understand him not wanting to play any of them.

A few new thoughts about the show:

- I'd heard every single song last night at prior Toronto shows but got 7 new ones. Had I heard all the new songs live before I'd probably be a bit ticked because their mood and performance didn't outweigh the vanilla set. Tonight is a different story, I'm more likely to come back annoyed.
- Jon didn't move much. He was planted in one place for a majority of the set. The "He's hiding behind his guitar" excuse doesn't work because even without it he's a statue.
- He truly didn't sing the key change of LOAP. He did a bit towards the end but it was all backing vocals.
- My problem isn't the new songs, like some have said. Bring em all on, it's the filler songs in between that do nothing for the crowd. You're better off with smaller hits than album tracks people don't know. Lost Highway did alright on the radio here, When we were beautiful got minor play but not enough to bring it back for another tour. Sleep, Crash and Town are fun but taking the place of something else the crowd would recognize. I'm not saying pander your set to the masses but if you're going to play seven....SEVEN new songs from an album that isn't even out you have to play more hits.

Put into perspective though, we're sitting here asking the band to play MORE hits, a total turnaround from last tour.

Agreed, to close with they've learned good judgement based on the rest of the review seemed a bit conflicting.

I'm not so sure I buy that reasoning. Even if he could sing some of the old songs with the same voice, I am not convinced in the least, that he'd sing them...not at all.

I hear Runaway on Classic Rock Radio frequently. Probably 4th to Prayer, Bad Name, Wanted.

I always find that "Runaway" is quite a popular song, even amongst casuals. It might have been a small hit back then, but it has become some sort of classic.
