Is anyone really suprised that they played it safe for a TV special?
Anycase, I like this a set better than the previous two (mainly since it has ITA, Die 4 U, Saturday, and KTF) The encore would've been much better had they flipped ILTT and KTF IMO. The ending on Captain Crash is very weird though, even though I adore the song.

Ok, take a look at this:

Tokyo, Japan - Tokyo Dome #2 - 1/14/08

1. LOST HIGHWAY
2. BAD NAME
3. RAISE YOUR HANDS
4. RUNAWAY
5. RADIO SAVED MY LIFE
6.STORY OF MY LIFE
7. IN THESE ARMS
8. DIE FOR YOU
9. (YOU WANT TO) MAKE A MEMORY
10. WHOLE LOT OF LEAVIN'
11. BORN TO BE MY BABY
12. ANY OTHER DAY
13. WE GOT IT GOIN' ON
14. IT'S MY LIFE
15. BAD MEDICINE
16. THESE DAYS - RICHIE VOX
17. SATURDAY NIGHT
18. FAITH
19. SLEEP
20. WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME
21. PRAYER
22. HAVE A NICE DAY
23. WANTED
24. I LOVE THIS TOWN
25. CAPT. CRASH

Now take a look at this:

Yokohama, Japan - 5/19/96

1, Lay Your Hands On Me
2, Bad Medicine
3, Hey God
4, You Give Love A Bad Name
5, Runaway
6, I'll Be There For You
7, Something To Believe In
8, Blood On Blood
9, Wanted Dead Or Alive (Acoustic)
10, I'd Die For You (Acoustic)
11, In These Arms (Acoustic)
12, Something For the Pain
13, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
14, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead ~ Brown Sugar
15, Keep The Faith
16, Always
17, Blaze Of Glory
18, These Days
19, My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms
20, Diamond Ring
21, Damned
22, Livin' On A Prayer

Now then,

11 songs the same. 6 songs from 'LH' on the recent Tokyo show, 6 songs from 'TD' on the 96 Yokohama show. 22 songs in 96 but 25 in 08.

We know they can't do the ballads anymore. We know they will not play much from 'These Days' anymore either. They also have 4 other post 2000 albums to fit in. With that in mind is it really such a bad set list?

If I may add to your question, was it broadcast in full?
Or certain parts?

Well I read SOMEWHERE (Don't ask me where, because I really can't remember) that they show had a THREE HOUR slot in the TV listings/scheduler, so I'm guessing that the Concert was indeed shown in full....

That's not a particularly bad setlist. The songs that I've kept above are the more interesting ones. Sleep When I'm Dead is there because of the two now-rare covers incorporated into it. These Days with Richie has ceased to be a rarity on this tour, but it's just awesome anyway

ITA and Die For You are welcome back, not particularly rare, but still definately not played enough. KTF and Saturday Night are now more or less songs the band toss in for the fans, a bit of a crap idea of 'fan favourites' but still fine.

Story Of My Life's just an album track, not really a hit single or a live staple, so even though they play it a bit, I probably wouldn't've expected it. AAD is definately a special track, often being the fan's pick off LH, and generally complete with an extended solo or a jam.

Those are just my opinions on the more interesting songs in this setlist, the ones which I'll actually listen to if a bootleg surfaces.

I know the setlists havn't been amazing but have you really seen enough footage to make you think that the shows themselves arn't upto the same standard as the last 2 tours???

for me there looking more into it and seem to be having fun playing live again.... the setlists arnt amazin...but i dont think there's a problem with the tour performances themselves...
