If I go to a "JBJ and Friends" show I expect this sort of concert. Jamming to cover songs all night long and not a Jon solo concert. This time it was really JBJ and friends for me, shame some seem to be too fixed on Jon only (no offense to you Johny!).

LOL I just said I would rather have MAM and lonely sharing the same spotlight better than just MAM (because I added I don't like that one that much and it is to me 2 rather similar song style wise )

I am sure Kathleen and Paul will post a review of course but so far you are still the only one who shared your thoughts ...

Well I can finally say something about this now. I never post during a show as my phone is OFF. I was posting while waiting in line - Paul spotted Southside driving in the parking lot (how nice to have good eyes LOL) and we were honestly the only 2 people who even knew who he was. We shouted at him and gave him a thumbs up - at least he knew there were a few fans of his there. When Jon cam in a few minutes later - he drove in with Obie - the line went crazy. Jon went in a different door way in the back so there was no time to even snap a picture. I might have gotten a picture of Southside - still haven't checked my phone.

Waiting in line ahead of time was torture - it was freezing and the venue was behind on their time estimate as to when the ticket window opened and when the doors opened. The parking lot wasn't even finished being plowed so we wound up standing on a few inches of ice waiting to get in. They did not assign random numbers to the tickets the way they did at the last Starland show so you couldn't go sit in the car and wait until your group of numbers were ready to go in. Fortunately we had a group of very friendly and nice people around us and we all took turns standing in line and warming up in the car.

I can imagine that most Bon Jovi fans would have hated this show - but personally I loved it. I am very much in agreement with Marc sometimes that I want something different - who cares if it's raw. This was mostly a bunch of old rock and roll cover songs sung by many of the "usual suspects" from the Jersey Shore bar bands. I see many of these same people guesting at the Southside Johnny shows that I go to. As mentioned this was very much in the groove of Bobby's Rock and Roll Jersey Shore shows. Jon gave Bobby a HUGE speech of thanks (and a hug) at the end for organizing the whole thing.

To have both Jon and Southside together on so many songs was just icing on the cake for me. The place was packed and everyone I saw seemed to be having a blast. I heard no grumbling about the setlist from people around me. My husband said he preferred the last Starland show and I did too - who would not want to hear all those rarities. But this show fit what it was billed as perfectly and it was a hell of a nice night. Jon seems to loosen up and have a lot more fun at these "less scripted" sort of shows which certainly translates itself to the audience.

Thank you Kathleen for the review ..it was like I was there .... ( I truly admire you guys able to make a detailed review after a show I just absolutely cannot do that ... I am the worst reviewer ever )

I found this online just now and thought the setlist was a little bit more specific

I am more curious to know if it is true/reliable (I had no idea jon was off stage that much so I am asking to you guys who were there)

Yep, those songs that say Jon is offstage is absolutely correct.

Yeah but playing only covers and your overplayed song which suck played by a different band, especially the guitarist.. the previous show had the covers, had the rare JBJ songs and had some BJ songs. And when it is a Jon Bon Jovi show I'd expect his songs. I just don't like the setist at all but on the other had I can understand that Kathleen and other local people enjoyed it.

I think that event was clearly a fundraiser for a local clinic ... Jon used his name to attract interest but it was more a jamming session with local artists or more 'club' oriented artists (and not so local too I think )... I am very surprised that my feeling about him not being always on stage was right LOL !
I had this impression it was a event with several artist sharing a stage from the beginning ...
It was not just JON songs or Jon choice probably. They , imo , probably all had their say in the process.

I wish I could have witnessed it but I can understand a jovi fan could be honestly frustrated ...it would mean that Jon alone doesn't make the trick .... it is a rather good news actually even if I am sure many ppl were genuinely enjoying the rarities performed there more than just staring at Jon (not here much on JT but many fans admit he could sing the telephone book they don't care .. bring on a red tee shirt and flirty jon and they are happy)

I was not there yesterday but was at the JBJ and friends fan club thing in 2009 I honestly say that I totally prefer the 2009 setlist ... without a doubt

but JBJ and SSJ I love that and the last time I got to enjoy that was 2001 I would have love a repeat !!

The videos are just starting to hit YouTube. I haven't seen that one yet, but give it time.
