There's only glimpses of it now and then but Richie's not the reason why the band doesn't sound like Bon Jovi anymore.

Yeah, the sound of the band has degenerated since the HAND tour and Richie was culpable for a big part of that. What I'm trying to say is that an awful lot of people don't notice these things. When Bobby and another keyboard player were wheeled out on the HAND tour I'm sure 50% of the crowd didn't even realise anything changed.

That's why I can't take half of these recent concert reviews seriously. Some people just go for the sing along and while that's fine I don't appreciate them ramming the "BON JOVI IS BETTER THAN EVER WITH PHIL" line down my throat.

I agree. I appreciate Phil and do agree he's pretty bad ass. But never will I say it's better with him. I'll take richie any day any time. Those other "fans" are full of it and should really think before they speak. It really is beyond disrespectful to someone who co wrote a shitload of hits. Feud or no feud he at least deserves the respect of that it will always be better with him there playing the music that is part his.

I don't think saying a show with Phil was good is somehow disrespectful or insulting to Richie. That's nonsense.

I'm a diehard Richie fan, and I am not bothered by fans saying Phil is good. What bothers me is when fans say things like, "Richie who?" or "I didn't even miss Richie" or "The band is called 'Bon Jovi' not 'Sambora' and 'I am at this show to see Jon and who cares who else is onstage with him'. These 'fans' typically know nothing about the band's music, nor do they care.

While I appreciate what Mr X is doing, he does not even come close to replicating Sambora. I was at the Thursday show and will be there again tonight. I was sitting in section 5 on the floor, so I should have had no problems with sound. What jumped out at me is how low Phil is in the mix. The bass was so overpowering that you could barely hear the guitar parts. A lot of times Jon's acoustic was louder than Phil's guitar. It just seems to me that while Phil is a great technical player he does not have the "feel" for Jovi songs. The show was enjoyable but I wish Richie would get the stick out of his ass and come back already!
