Jon was on autopilot as soon as Bad Medicine kicked in. We then got the cover bit that woke him up, but afterwards, as soon as The More Things Change, When We Were Beautiful, Bed Of Roses and I'll Be There For You showed up, he was done. The crowd was also the shittiest crowd I've ever seen in Germany, not loud at all, but I merely got a "yeah whatever" feeling from them. Have A Nice Day was just a lot of loud noise, but didn't work and neither did Keep The Faith, a song that usually goes over really well in Germany.

The only song Jon really, really seemed to enjoy performing was These Days, that one woke him up, but by then it was too late. Like my brother mentioned earlier, a setlist on paper doesn't really mean it's a great show. Jon was struggling all night, then gave Dry County a try which merely had a lot of shouting the words in it. There was no "magic" here tonight, and by the time Jon did his thank you for your support speech you could see he knew he ****ed up.

I know you Amurrecans will bitch on how we're spoiled but it's got nothing to do with that. I saw a lot of shows with vanilla setlists this tour or less surprises (Calgary, Saratoga) that were more fun for me simply because the band enjoyed it. This had Jon putting zero effort into it for a good hour of the set, and it made for a dire performance most of the night. The show lasted 3 hours, but as for the band and crowd being completely into it there was about an hour of real fun. I feel the same about this one as I feel about Twickenham 2008. Great setlist on paper, but a poor performance.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Thanks for the review. I know you are honest in what you write. I hope things get better from here on out. I wasn't there so I don't really have an opinion. I'm trying to stay away from the videos. It seems the first timers were happier with the show then the diehards or the repeat concert goers. I was not impressed with the stream. Jon sounded off. Hope your next show works out better for you.

I'm actually fine with no Richie song on lead vocals as long as Jon doesn't need the 5 minutes under the stage. Richie would just do Lay Your Hands On Me which doesn't flatter him vocally.

Will write a proper review of both nights (Dresden & Munich) later, but so far:
-I was on the infield on the left behind the GC area and there the crowd was brilliant! On many songs I only heard the people around me singing!
-Jon had an off night and realized it, but I give him and the band credit for trying really hard to push it anyway - the energy was there
-Bad Medicine with the 2 cover songs was brilliant!
-They totally lost the crowd from TMTC and it only picked up slowly again during Someday!
-the encores were what saved the night - first time I got to hear DC!
-the 2nd verse on TD was sung really excellent!
-they played for 3 hours and 5 minutes and Tico has my whole respect for smashing the drums like crazy for that long
-strange enough the crowd reaction behind the GC area was way better and the enthusiasm much higher!
-I'm one of those people who can get lost if they get to hear "their" songs and so for me it was a very good show! Better than in 2008 and head to head with Dresden which had the better setlist.

It's not the actual voice, but the 'intonation' (IDK if it's the right word in english). His voice is there, he just slightly misses notes, he sounds slightly off-key at moments, that's something that never happened last year with a few rare exceptions (NMS4). For example, I'll Be There For You was a perfect go-to song last year. Jon sounded so good on that song last year, that good vocal duties on him for this song became 'vanilla' if you know what I mean. And listen to how it sounded in May. I absolutely love the extra lyrics and the return of the 'just me and you ouuuus', but he sounded slightly off key. It sucks that I can't have any sound right now, so I can post YouTube links that would prove that. And as far as judging someone's singing, good quality audience YouTube videos is always a better way to do that than actual being live.

You might want to consider whether the difference between May and earlier in the tour was the fact that Richie wasn't there. The harmonies that we're used to were shot-to-hell during May. Nothing sounded the same.

Have to say that Alway had som really great and powerful vocals! He may not have been perfect during the show, but it sure was a fantastic peformance of Always!

I have a slight suspicion it's Ralph Lauren. They have a few similar style jackets to that one.

Ok, I've also been at the show so if you wanna read some different opinions than those slightly negative which some other people like to repeat... Honestly I think I'm one of those hard to please, I follow the band more than I should and I have more shows than I should. I haven't been to many show because of the location I live in and financial situation (unfortunately you have to be a millionaire to follow their tour)

First I'd like to say that I'm really glad I could meet Dominik and then Seb with Thierry!! Great guys all of them.

After seeing Dresden's setlist I was really hyped for this show to get even more and that's always bad. One should enjoy the show as such and not compare it to others, moreover if he/she wasn't there. This is the only show I'm going to this year, so probably a last one for a long time. Actually I'm tempted to go some other show but it it depend on many factors. Being it my only show I wanted to enjoy it and I did. I was in the second GC. The whole GC was divided, the first one (right behind the catwalk) was for fanclub and the early-comers. I was pissed when I realised this but it turned out to be a better option. Me and my friends occupied places at the barrier and we had a great view because the people in the GC1 moved forward when the show started.

I wished a different opener but Raise Your Hands totally rocks in this spot, much better than on a bootleg. The beginning of the show was great, the band was in excellent form and the crowd was pumped. I know it doesn't look so from the stream but there are too distant views. People around me were jumping and singing along throughout the whole show. So the atmospehere was great, people seem to enjoy themselves a lot. RYH, YGLABN, BTBMB all worked really good, WWBTF needs a different place in the set, it worked better as the second song, especially after Blood On Blood or Last Man Standing because it's faster thatn those songs, howeverit is slower and lacks the energy of BTBMB. I was glad to get In These Arms because it meant no Lost Highway Bobby ****ed up the solo as usually. I was hoping for something special to come but Dominik was right that Jon will go for safe choices for the stream. All of the songs worked really, only something for the diehards was missed. That was the first time I missed it.

Runaway was cool, Jon did good job on the solos, better than Bobby does in ITA. IML is just IML I love this song because it got me into music, so there's nothing more to say. Blaze Of Glory was a let down for me. Not for the performance but because I knew this was the rarity Jon gave us. I don't like it live that much, I've already seen it. The studio version is miles better. Captain Crash was fun for few seconds at the beginning because I like the intro and for few seconds at the end because Jon really enjoyed watching the crowd swinging. Bad Medicine was one of the highlights of the show. It is because of the cool videos on the screens and of course because of the covers. Rock You Like A Hurricane rocked, Jon seemed to be surprised but I think it must have been prepared somehow. Old Time Rock'n'Roll is also fun.

The More Things Change - I really wished they'd play this so I was really happy. I just love the tune. Unfortunately the crowd needed something different after beeing on high energy level after Bad Medicine. I think people didn't get or just didn't pay attention to Jon's rant about GaGa etc. The should have played it in a different spot. LYHOM is also fun to listen to. Jon delivers better vocals than Richie and the jam part is also cool. I just can't help but Phil X's contribution was to this song was better than Richie's. Richie doesn't play anything that interesting here and Bobby plays the lead twice when Richie only once, I don't understand why.

When We Were Beautiful. My opinion will differ from other here again. I love this song on the record I don't like on bootlegs but I enjoyed it live. I like the drums, Richie's solo and thanks to the shalalas they didn't loose the crowd as it happens with Make A Memory. Some say the crowd had already been lost before this song, well.. I can imagine better choice to open the set on the circle. Bed Of Roses was good, and so was I'll Be There For You, Jon added some of his adlibs so it was different for me now. I'm not a fan of this part of the show because it potential of the songs is wasted. BOR and IBTFY are amazing ballads but playing them in a row with WWWB and Bells Of Freedom is just stupid. BOF was nice to hear, Richie's acoustic solo was beautiful. I was glad they didn't play SFTP because I've already seen it. This part of the show was again a letdown for me because there was no big surprise. BOF was a surprise in Dresden, it was different here. I was hoping for Living In Sin or Wild Is The Wind for example. One song would have made it amazing set imo. Who Says was fun for Jon and chance for me to drink and keep my mouth shut We got extra bit of "it'salrights". Sleep was boring because there were no covers, Jon seemed to hurry. Saturday Night is again an amazing song as is BOR or IBTFY but it meant no surprise is going to happen again. Moreover it was as short as it could be. Have A Nice Day was the time when we were back to the show. The crowd woke up for the first time since Bad Medicine significantly. I mean there was a lot of participation during IBTFY, the crowd sang extra "whooas" after the song finished. However HaND was song to start the most amazing part of the show. Richie's guitar was really raw and it fit the song. KTF rocked as usual, I enjoyed Richie's outro. For the third time, I have to repeat that I was a bit disappointed that something special didn't happen in this part of the show. I mean Hey God would have made the show so special if it was switched for Sleep. Or Wild Is The Wind instead of BOR or IBTFY. Or Thorn instead of ITA or Captain Crash. Just a little was missing.

The encore was incredible. I knew they had 45 mins before the curfew. When I saw Richie's guitar I was sure it was going to be Dry County. I don't think Jon's vocals were bad. I was carried away by the song and his vocals didn't distract me so they must have been ok. The song is a masterpiece!! Wanted as next scared me. Fortunately there more to come after Always. You can read in this thread that I didn't want them to play it. Always follows me everywhere Last year in the O2 Jon delivered amazing vocals which seemed so easy for him to sing. Yesterday it was Richie who owned the song. The outro was amazing, very long and probably the best I've ever heard live It was long and that repetitive as it used to be. It was great. Then Jon was teasing is, hanging on the mic and watching the crowd, it seemed that he was thinking about an audible. Well he went into Prayer intro so it was just his acting. The crowd was great during the whole show in my opinions so we deserved something special. We got ten minutes till curfew so I was hoping for These Days. My dream came true These Days was one of the best! But Blood On Blood right after was a real surprise because we reached the curfew The crowd was going nuts after it but couldn't add more. I think that of there was time maybe they would. Maybe not because they played for 3hours and 5 minutes!!

Overall, it was a great show for me. I went there to enjoy it. My expectations were a bit higher but I loved every second of the evening anyway. I had great guys around me during the show. I met my friends from here and the other forum (I still want to meet Kathleen and Terri..). Jon vocals weren't the best that true. He was much better in the O2 last year on the other hand I was satisfied with it. I get carried away by the show so I can change my opinion when I watch the full video stream or listen to the audio. Richie was back in top form, his solos were great. The band sounded tight and all of them seemed to have fun. That's how I see it. And since there no ONE truth but just opinions of other people so I can say it this way I think. The comments here can't change what I've seen but I feel bad about it a bit.

The best sentence at the end. This show will be remembered as the first concert without a single song from the Lost Highway album (after its release of course)!!! And because if that and because of the length I bought a new Bon Jovi t-shirt each a tour a new t-shirt

I hope the band is going to keep the high standart and finish this tour with in top form. I know I'll be jealous about the sets but that's life. Still there is a chance I'll get tickets to another show.

Enjoy the Bon Jovi summer, it may be the last for few years!
