Was also interested to hear the organiser saying Bon Jovi are proving "a pretty big draw". Damning them with faint praise or am I just being negative?
I think they may struggle to sell out Hyde Park too this year. I'm in no rush to buy tickets like I was last time round. I think you may even get under face value nearer the time.

Like Slane's strong lineup of acts having The Stones play Hyde Park the next night (with talk of a second date being announced once the first is sold out) it takes the emphasis completely away from Jovi.

The Coronas, Bressie and Hamsandwich will be the support acts.

As an Irish person I must say these are rather underwhelming choices for support acts. Its great that these Irish acts are getting this exposure but they could be seen at a free town festival numerous times during the year in Ireland.

But musically The Coronas and Bressie are really good and are household names over here.

They aren't gonna sell many extra tickets methinks.

Either tickets are selling just fine or no-one of note wanted to support Bon Jovi.

Yeah I can't see droves of Irish people coming solely to see these bands, as they tour the country often enough anyway.

Say what you want about past support acts like Nickelback, Kid Rock and even The Feeling, but they attracted non Jovi fans because they've got loyal fanbases that jump at the rare chance to see their band.

Fail. They needed a bigger name to help shift tickets for this. This is not going to make any difference whatsoever to ticket sales, and as someone has already pointed out I could go catch any of the above bands for 15 euro or so multiple times a year if I wanted. without all the hassle of getting out Slane and back and paying those prices. The Kaiser Chiefs would have helped better, even though I do not like them.

LOL

Seriously though, in terms of picking a Irish born act, The Script would of been the most obvious choice.

Agreed. Would have shifted some tickets and they would surely be up for it.

My better half loves The Coronas and loves getting pissed in a field* so this has made her happy.

*nothing like perpetuating the sterotype of the drunk Irish eh?

Getting pissed in a field is exactly the reason I picked Slane to go too. Lol.

I'll also perpetuate the myth of the drunk Scot!
