They will have to add one hell of an opening act or 2 to this for it to come close to getting a good crowd nevermind selling out as Robbie Williams is playing Aviva stadium in Dublin the night before and he is a huge draw...

The Script sell out venues in Ireland on their own so doubt veyr much they will be at Slane for this.

Foo Fighters supported RHCP at Slane when I saw them, and they were big at the time..and RHCP supported U2 at Slane too on their Californication tour...so you never know.

Shame I can't make Slane this year...Hyde Park for me I thinks..

I hope this is the case because I'm taking in my first European Bon Jovi show at Slane! I have high, but not unreasonable, expectations.

The same way probably as 80% of everybody else going - there's always a load of special public buses put on for the concert.

Oh, and Google is your friend.

I am not sure where you get this from, I am not saying you are entirely wrong, but do you have some sources cause I have not seen much of this? At least here in Argentina, when he was on TV two weeks ago the press was very positive, as it has been on the whole in Brazil too. If you mean the internet blogs kicking off then I would say that is not the press. As far as I can see Bon Jovi gets good press for the most part, especially in the States, and especially in the mainstream press. Sure there is always a little dig in every article but they had that even when they were not a "declining" touring band.

That's really interesting, I had no idea there was a media backlash (re Slane) against Bon Jovi, I just did some Google searches and couldn't find much other than some internet blogs poking fun and forum boards with outraged members of the music elite apparently, although the Irish Times was less than pleased. Again, if you could point me to some of these news reports it would be interesting to read/see them.

By the way, I am not being sarcastic, I am really asking because I could not turn up much.

Read this morning that only 35,000-40,000 tickets have been sold for this. Looking fairly ominous. With Robbie playing the night before, Neil Young playing the same night and Eminem playing Slane this year too, it looks like the gods are conspiring against Bon Jovi.

Was also interested to hear the organiser saying Bon Jovi are proving "a pretty big draw". Damning them with faint praise or am I just being negative?
