I saw them as an opening act - heck I am IN the Wanted video!!! I think expecting a group to sound the same for 30 years is insane. Does Jon have the same voice? No. But he killed himself in those years.

They are still a great live act - they have evolved. Some things now I like better than before. KTF now is better than ever - I used to hate it now I will listen to the live version all the time.

I would rather have what we have now then nothing at all.

Ok, here goes......

Jon did have a tough job on his hands with the crowd but he won them over in true Jovistyle. Basic set which was fine as it showed me why I love this band, yes the set was short.... Surprised they didn't play Always as that was their biggest hit here, not to worry though.

Most amazing moment was the crowd singing Bad Medicine without Jon, it was a pleasant surprise as I don't think even the normal fan base have even sang that one back.....

All in all a great show by the guys and a good day was had by all at the festival, even regular festival goers enjoyed Bon Jovi.

There were quite a few Jovi fans walking about and some familiar faces too.

People who weren't there can bash all they want... Yes I did say it would be better than Slane, it was because I was at this show

Just watched the webcast and here's some things I noticed:

Phil's guitar is way too low in the mix
David covers Jon's ass a LOT during the show and he does a great job!
Tico is amazing
Phil's voice sure comes in handy during the chorus in Prayer!
Jon looked funny during the HAND screw up lol...

that's it

Good to hear a review from another Bon Jovi fan who was there in person!

There was a noticeable lack of crowd interest in the non-greatest hits tunes, which I think is always going to be a given at a festival like this. But what I found refreshing was the sheer enthusiasm from the crowd for those greatest hits. I've never had so much fun watching them perform Bad Medicine (I think this truly won the audience over), Bad Name, It's My Life (the crowd were mega loud for this one), Wanted and Livin' On A Prayer. Even Have A Nice Day was greeted with shouts and screams. Like I said previously, to have a complete stranger so excited to have seen them play Prayer, and put his arm around me, grinning like a Cheshire cat just made it for me.

What I have to keep reminding myself is that the majority of that festival crowd will have never had much interest in Bon Jovi before but will go home happy because they got to sing and dance to those hits with one of the biggest bands in the world. I can't always expect to be treated to a set of rare and brand new songs particularly at this type of gig.

This was a true 'lol' moment. The stink eye isn't only reserved for Richie.

Agreed, I've not been a fan since the 80's but since 1990, and I consider the 90's the band at their musical and creative peak, yet Slane was up there amongst one of my best shows. If Richie had been there, it may well have nailed it.

Whilst Jon's voice has, unarguably, worsened considerably his charisma hasn't - that magic thing that makes a frontman a frontman.

Though I can't understand how anyone could ever hate Keep The Faith you're clearly nuts.

This is how I view almost any show - we are in a minority, those of us who see them several times a tour. It's nice when we get something, but I never expect it.

The crowd definitely knew all the above hits and I was quite surprised they knew Have A Nice Day too. As soon as Its My Life started, alot of people did go mad which is always nice to see as I know at regular shows this song is not well received.

I wasn't expecting Thats What The Water Made Me to open the show but I do think this was better received than the other newer songs they sang.

When we were heading out of the site there was quite a number of people happily singing Prayer at the top of their voice, I did here a few singing Bad Medicine as we were walking.

I am glad I went thats for sure and I know people will analyse/bash this show for years to come.... So what, they went, they played and to me, they conquered! Yes Bon Jovi are not the band they once were but they sure as hell put in a great effort on Sunday night as far as I'm concerned.
